The Galleria

Merchants are the middle-men of trade. Their bazaar-styled stands boast items they purchase themselves at wholesale cost and shamelessly sell at higher prices for fat profits. Employed humans across Alcryst depend on their services as they prey on such advantages with ravenous ambition, trading reputation for deeper pockets.

Galleria offers supplies for all human occupations:

Only merchants may buy from the wholesale catalog. While any character may purchase items directly from a merchant, only characters registered in the item's corresponding occupation can equip or use the item.
Galleria items may only be used for their intended occupational service. They cannot be utilized for alternative purposes, such as using a pair of Stablehand Gloves when capturing a horse in the outskirts or wielding a Pickaxe item as a weapon.

[PTab=Stands]

Merchant stands are the individual shops run by human characters in the Galleria. Each one receives its own sub-board in the Galleria's main board.
Follow the procedures in Caravan to build your stand and thus become a merchant.
Every stand board includes a "records" sub-sub-board where all of its completed transaction threads are locked and transferred as receipts. If their shop is ever archived, its receipt threads will be moved to the main Galleria records and labeled with the ex-merchant character's name for customers to easily access. By clicking on the label, it will sort the threads to only show threads sharing the same label, allowing customers to quickly search through the merchant's previous records.
You must log your records in Scrolls, as described in the Faewin Lawbook, which is mandatory to read. Alcryst's Scrolls site was coded from scratch by Brynora and hosted by her realistic SIM, Elite Equestrian.
Merchants may set up their shop and services at their discretion, including but not limited to: loyalty programs, discounts, sales, customer contracts, catalogs, specialties, whether transactions should occur IC or OOC, acceptable forms of compensation, any possible payment plans, rules for IC behavior, and prices.
Merchants may not sell merchandise for less than an item's wholesale price multiplied by 2 or more than an item's wholesale price multiplied by 5. Therefore, if an item's wholesale price is 50 coins, it cannot be sold for less than 100 coins or more than 250 coins. Exceptions include legitimate loyalty programs with qualifications earned over time and effort, such as discounts based on the frequency of purchases, and other similar discounts with a valid IC reason, like a fair and proper business alliance. All exceptions must be approved by administration through Inquisitions. Even with approved exceptions, merchandise cannot be sold for less than its wholesale price. If trading your items, the merchandise you are receiving must be of similar value, as gathered from their direct price if available. If there is not a direct price available, such as through the Underground, then post in Inquisitions for staff to make their best judgment.
Stands may be owned by only 1 merchant. Co-owners are not permitted.
When a transaction thread is completed, post in Invocation for the distribution of items and compensation.
You may not show favoritism to your other characters by offering them free or heavily discounted merchandise unless there is a valid IC reason, such as a fair business agreement with mutual advantages or another appropriate arrangement. Essentially, you may not treat your other characters any differently than you would treat a character you do not own.
Merchants may not use their own merchandise. They must purchase Galleria items from another merchant like any regular character.
You may advertise your services in the "adbox" in the left-hand sidetable beside the cbox, the IC Newsletter, the homepage footer's classifieds, through character interaction via standard roleplaying, and in the field "promotion" in your account under edit profile > personal.

[PTab=Restocking]

The wholesale catalog has a limited amount of items in stock. Cheaper, common items are frequently restocked in larger quantities, whereas expensive, rare items are infrequent and scant. An item's rarity is defined by the number of faces in a series of dice rolls, as explained below. The more common the item, the fewer the faces; the rarer the item, the greater the faces.
The catalog is restocked every Wednesday at a random time. Staff will post a stickied thread in the Galleria 1 hour prior to restocking, granting waiting merchants a chance to prepare. Once the 1-hour warning is posted, members may not purchase from the Galleria until it has been restocked. The staff member who is restocking the catalog will notify merchants through the left-hand cbox immediately after finishing the restocking process. While tempting, please avoid rapidly refreshing the page during this period, as we are charged for every pageview on the site and each page refresh counts toward our limit. Items are restocked based on a series of dice rolls. The number of faces for each dice roll vary by item, adjusted to accommodate different levels of rarity and expense. An item's specific dice face amount for every roll is recorded in its catalog description but the process is identical for each item:

The 1st dice roll determines if the item will be restocked:

Dice face 1 means the item will be restocked and all other faces mean it will not be restocked that week.
The higher the quantity currently in stock for that item, the lower its odds of restocking. For every number of that particular item in stock, the amount of faces on the 1st dice roll is increased by 1. Therefore, if the item originally has 5 faces but still has 10 items in stock on Wednesday, its dice roll will be adjusted to contain 15 faces instead.

The following dice rolls are only cast if the item is successfully restocked.
The resulting dice face number in the 2nd dice roll represents the quantity that will be restocked for that item.
The final dice roll determines what the item will cost from the current Wednesday to the following Wednesday.

Dice face 1 means it will be discounted by 10% less than its normal wholesale price.
The final dice face means it will cost 10% more than its normal wholesale price.
All dice faces in between mean the item costs its normal wholesale price.

You cannot edit your purchase post when ordering, which is monitored by the edit timestamp at the bottom right of your post. If you need to correct a mistake or wish to add to your order, you must make another post within your original purchasing thread. If your original purchasing thread has already been archived, you may create a new purchasing thread.
To purchase from the catalog, make a thread in Galleria with the label "Purchase" and provide a list of the item(s) you wish to buy. Both IC and OOC posts are accepted but the items must be written as an OOC note if you write an IC post. Next, post in Invocation to alert staff.
Items are first come, first served based on post timestamps. Hover your cursor over the timestamps to view the exact second the posts were published. If a merchant attempts to purchase an item that is already sold out, staff will deny that part of the transaction and only process the sections of the order that are currently in stock, if any.
Merchants may only purchase 15 total items every Wednesday after the catalog is restocked. Any amount of items may be purchased from Thursday to the 1-hour warning posted the following Wednesday.
Alcryst uses Central Standard Time and heeds Daylight Savings.
