It was a relief to get out of the city.

It still seemed rather novel to Cyras that he was able to leave whenever he wished, unchallenged. It hadn't been so terribly long ago that he had been a 'resident' of the orphanage. They had never taken too kindly to the inmates wards sneaking out Faewin unescorted. Of course, it hadn't meant that the kids had stayed within the city walls; just that they had had to be more inventive and sneaky that the officials would dream of giving them credit for. "The perfect preparation for a life of crime," the young man mumbled, resentfully.

Now though, that he was old enough, homeless enough and inconspicuous enough, the orphan boy was easily able to go unnoticed and uncontested as he left and returned to the city at will. It sounded depressing, but suited him just fine. He didn't need anybody questioning his whereabouts every time he felt like getting some peace and quiet.

Bare toes flexed in oh-so-green grass as the young man stood by the water's edge. Unlit coals gazed out across the water, a rare peace present in their depths that mimicked that of the lake. The water was still and perfectly clear, certainly inviting to an individual who didn't get to bathe nearly so often as he probably should. Stripping off his filthy shirt left the lithe human clad in a pair of ragged cloth trousers which might once have been light brown, but were now some indeterminate shade of dirt. Removing these too, he held the pair of items loosely, wading into the water where he proceeded to wash them as best he could without soap.
