I. To register, click on "profile" to the bottom right of the cbox.
II. Match your cbox name with your ooc account's display name.
III. Alcryst is home to any and all, so please refrain from ignoring or excluding guests and members or forming cliques.
IV. No IC soliciation or advertisement.
V. It is impolite to pressure someone into posting if it seems to make them uncomfortable. Err on the side of caution whenever unsure.
VI. To let someone know you posted for them, please tag them in your thread so they receive proper notification, rather than alerting them each time with the cbox.
VII. If you feel ignored, do your best to involve yourself in the conversation. Should you still seem excluded despite your true efforts, message a staff member or use our Grievances board so we can help ensure this doesn't happen again, to you or anyone else. A friendly community is important to us! Don't worry, we will always be discreet and professional.
VIII. We are all friends and certainly want to share with one another, but please keep awkward topics to more appropriate areas, like Palaver, an instant messenger, or private messaging, whenever possible. Though there's no black-and-white description, such conversations may be overly personal, particularly dark or depressive, uncomfortably vulgar, clearly one-sided or unappreciated, highly controversial like religion or politics, combative, exclusive, or otherwise cause a sense of tension.
IX. If a guest or new member has a question, try to cite sources when answering (such as a link to an official thread) or let a staff member handle it. We don't want incorrect information passed along!
X. Should a troll or troublemaker post in the cbox, ignore them and promptly message a staff member so we can ban them. It's key that you don't respond to them! That just feeds the nasty little creatures.
XI. Don't ask a staff member to perform a staff task through the cbox. Task requests should be made through Invocation. Feel free to alert staff when you first post a new Invocation thread, though, as they might've missed it.
The golden rule is simple:
Treat everyone with the respect you desire.
Don't pester, pressure, or push...
And treat everyone with a smile. :)
I. You may post any Alcryst-related promotions in the adbox. This includes but is not limited to: plots, roleplay threads, IC or OOC contests/games, occupational services, wanted ads, shop sales, art/code requests/sales, herds, guilds, and anything else that requires other members to participate or view.
II. The adbox may only be used for advertisement. You may not respond in the adbox nor may you discuss its content in the cbox. Feel free to make use of threads and PMs to converse on the topic.
III. Advertisements must be posted by the account most logically related to them. For example, a stand sale would be posted by the merchant's account.
IV. There is a limit of 1 post per collective advertisement, meaning you have 256 characters to convey your message and may not continue onto a 2nd post. This includes links. Note: you can remove board/thread names from the end of Alcryst URLs and they will still function so long as the ID number is intact. For example, http://alcryst.forums.net/board/1 is a functioning link despite the removal of the board name.
V. The adbox shows up to 20 posts. There may only be 1 visible post advertising the same event at a time. Therefore, you may repost the same promotion once your original post expires. You may also delete and repost your advertisement, effectively bumping it to the top, once a week at most.
VI. To delete a post, click on the X to the far right of your post. To edit one, hover your cursor over your post and select the "edit" option that appears. Deleted posts disappear immediately without confirmation and are not retrievable. Edited posts say [edited] to the left of their timestamp.
VII.Classifieds contains a comprehensive list of what may be advertised as well as additional solicitation options.

Winter until ##/##/##
Winter has frosted Alcryst like the cold blush of a corpse, hardening every surface with frigid ice searing through the depths of its heart. The plants are lethargic and slow, the sky is desaturated and dull, and the wind is a violent gale ripping apart flesh and soil alike.

Behind every king in a castle, every shelf lined with merchandise, every plot hatched in the shadows of a secret organization, there lurks the Caravan's sorcery. A cavalcade of enigmatic nomads with a row of fabric-covered carts stare at the customers with wary eyes, silently exchanging glowing bottles with hands outstretched for coins. Though their mystery is unsettling, their supplies provide characters with the means to shape Alcryst itself.
Guilds, establishments, and personal estates are built through the Caravan, which is operated by the site. Character-owned boards outside of Emporium have green titles to easily distinguish from the cream-colored names of the site's default boards.
Personal estates are private homes owned by individual characters and are a significant status symbol in Alcrystan culture. To deserve such high prestige, homeowners must meet the following requirements:
At least 200 posts in the homeowner's IC account.
Prove you have lived in an inn for at least 90 days that is located in the city where you wish to build your residence. All inns should have records of their occupants available; if you are having difficulty locating their records, contact the innkeeper directly for assistance. Stable owners who live in their stables also qualify after 90 days.
It must be at least 180 days after your character's biography was accepted.
Guild owners and business owners, including initial or later co-owners, must meet the following criteria:
At least 100 posts in the guild or business owner's IC account. For every additional guild or business creation, you must have another 100 posts. For example, to own 3 establishments, you must have 300 posts.
You cannot be homeless unless you are opening a stable or inn, where you will be able to live.
It must be at least 60 days after your character's biography was accepted.
Character-run boards are created through "manufacturing spells" purchased in the Caravan, which allow any appearance that imagination can conceive. Manufacturing spells are sold based on their size rather than a specified number of rooms. While a manufacturing spell might consist of a single room if desired, it might also encompass several based on your chosen design. Manufacturing spells might even combine into 1 massive room or a sprawling lawn. You may also stack manufacturing spells to construct multiple levels, even if a higher level is larger than its lower level. Levels may also be located underground or in the air and can be separated from each other both horizontally and vertically, should you want levels to hover apart or be otherwise independent.
All decorations and objects are a separate item, called "furnishing spells." You only need 1 furnishing spell per manufacturing spell and may compose any desired appearance from it with an unlimited amount of objects and aesthetics, from gardens to extravagant bedrooms to vast jumping arenas. Quite simply, a manufacturing spell allots you the needed volume and a furnishing spell allows all needed decorations, permitting the ultimate creative freedom for any vision, from warm, modest huts to towering high-fantasy domains floating above the clouds.
You must pay an additional 50 coin fee for a building permit when first creating your board. You only need to purchase a building permit once per guild, establishment, or personal estate.
To purchase a spell, make a thread in the Caravan with the label "Purchase" naming which item(s) you wish to buy. Both IC and OOC posts are accepted but the items must be written as an OOC note if you write an IC post. Next, post in Invocation to alert staff.
If purchasing your 1st spell, include your board name, board description, and tag the IC and OOC accounts of your co-owner(s) if applicable. You must also name which city your board will be located within and which existing boards you wish to be nearby. If paying through multiple accounts, such as co-owners splitting the cost, tag the account(s) and wait for their permission to proceed. It is optional to include:
Any sub or sub-sub-boards. Stands, smithies, and farms are already a sub-board in the their respective main Emporium board, but may still contain sub-sub-boards within themselves. Inns, stables, and personal estates are a main board independent of any other but may still contain sub-boards. Sub and sub-sub-boards may be designated for different rooms or different purposes. You must supply the board name, its description, and what permissions you want users to have for viewing, posting, creating threads, and creating polls. Each permission can be restricted to guests, members, staff, or even specific membergroups. Sub and sub-sub-boards may be set to private, which will allow only the thread creator and accounts with permission to even see a thread exists, let alone access it. You may choose which accounts have permission to view all threads in a private board. You can set a sub or sub-sub-board to hidden, which makes it invisible and only accessible to those who enter its direct URL. You can lock your sub or sub-sub-board with a password. You may disable posting for all accounts. Lastly, you can set the board to redirect to another link when clicked; the link may lead to another page on Alcryst or an appropriate site, such as DeviantART.
Any labels. Include which boards these labels should apply to, should you have a sub or sub-sub-board, as well as who has the permission to view and/or apply them (these can be separate permissions). If you do not want your label to be the default color #2d2821, you may choose another hex code so long as it is visible against our background. Threads can contain multiple labels and you can sort a board to only show threads with a specific label by clicking on that label.
The above options may be edited later by posting in Invocation for any changes/removals/additions. Staff will then create your board as instructed, subtract your purchase total, update your account's occupation amount if applicable, and post your ownership paperwork in Certification.
Your character's account will also receive administrative abilities over your board, allowing you to lock and sticky threads, create polls and view poll voters, bump threads to the top of the thread list with a button, and set threads to falling which means they will not ascend in the thread list even when they get new posts.
Faewin boards are subject to a tax. Humans with occupations and guildmasters located in Faewin are required to utilize our Scrolls, which is further detailed in the Faewin Lawbook. It is mandatory for all roleplayers with a human character to read the Lawbook. The Scrolls site is coded from scratch by Brynora and hosted by her realistic SIM, Elite Equestrian.
If your board already exists when purchasing spells from the Caravan, include if your spells will require any new sub-boards or sub-sub-boards along with their board names and board descriptions. Staff will then subtract your total and create any requested boards.
Spell items are added to your "inventory," located as a pop-up link under the "items" tab in your mini-profile. Your inventory acts as storage for inactive items, which have no current effect and can still be easily traded, sold, or gifted, as they remain in their whole and untouched form.
When you are prepared to activate your spell(s), post in Invocation and staff will move the selected item(s) to your "applied items" field, a secondary list under your mini-profile's "items" tab. Your applied items have a current effect, meaning they have already manifested within your board. If you own multiple spells, they appear only once in your inventory and applied items, showing their quantity when you hover your cursor over them.
While spells may be purchased by the guild, establishment, or personal estate owner, they must be physically cast by an alchemist who is registered in the Almanac in order to actually materialize the space. The alchemist must write a 200-400 word IC post drawing runes to enact the spell's magic and apply the label "Spellwork," which member-run boards always contain. Every individual spell requires its own alchemist post within your board. Spells may not be moved to your applied items until an alchemist has finished casting them. Spellwork threads are permanent additions to your board unless you remove their effect, in which case alert staff to have the thread(s) archived.
The appearance of a guild, establishment, or personal estate must be made publicly available in the board description, in a stickied thread, or in the board’s header/footer. Board descriptions are restricted to text but stickied threads and headers/footers may utilize text, visual illustrations, or both. Visual illustrations may be any medium or style and could consist of the interior, exterior, or even blueprints. They are not limited to a single image. Inform staff if you would like to use our slideshow code as seen here.
Member-run boards must have a stickied thread or sub-board dedicated to explaining how each manufacturing spell affects the land. For example, a stable may detail that a certain spell is responsible for 10 of its stalls. This thread must be kept updated and does not need to include specific details, such as furnishings or every measurement, but rather proves that the general land is not markedly larger than they have fairly paid for. Post in Inquisitions if you need staff assistance to gauge what spells are required for your intended design.
You may change the appearance of an applied manufacturing or furnishing spell at any point if you update its description(s) and/or image(s). Likewise, you may purchase additional spells to implement.
If you no longer want an existing spell, you may remove it by updating your board's appearance and posting in Invocation for staff to move the item back into your inventory. Spells returned to your inventory may be sold, traded, or gifted like any standard item.
