OTHER:two large hooped horns that arch back from just above each eye. These have grown throughout her life and are projected to continue to grow. The arch gets taller/larger as she ages and the spiral pulls out away from the body, much as a rams horns do. The color is a fine gold at the base and gradients to the black-brown of her coat at the tip. Likes:FEAR:
Not being afraid of anything, but instilling fear in others. She's thoroughly addicted to the taste of fear and will do anything to cause it. Even if this means getting too close to a human establishment - as she has found that the fear felt by humans has such a sickly sweet tang that animals simply cannot produce. She believes it's because they are sentient beings and can understand the danger on a whole new level that animals just can't appreciate.
DANGER:both hers and others, she's not afraid of danger and finds placing herself in sticky or dangerous situations to be addictive. Or maybe it's just the adrenaline rush that she gets from entering such situations. Whatever it is she can't stop doing it and one of these days it's going to cost her her life, her freedom, or both.
HUNTING:Any and all living creatures are potential targets. She's addicted to the thrill of the hunt. It's not necessarily the kill at the end ( though she does adore killing ) that gets her blood pumping in a hunt but the chase. She finds the only thing that can compare to the chase of a hunt is the fear of the hunted and then because the hunted are afraid it only makes hunting that much more addictive for her!
RUNNING:Running for the sake of running tends to expend more energy than she can afford to lose but there's never anything better than a good run to expend the pent up energies of negative emotions - negative being the opperative word because what you might think of as negative she certainly does not!
DEATH:Only in the sense that she causes your death. She's not at all interested in dying herself but she's certainly not above causing death. She finds it an art that cannot go ignored. If you're going to kill make it a beautiful thing - because at some point in time the life you're stealing was beautiful, or the creators thought it was beautiful!
TORTURE:What? You're surprised by this? Well you shouldn't be. When she's hunting to actually, well, feed, she doesn't make it quick. She'll hunt her prey, stalk it after acquiring a desirable target and then strike once - or twice - to ensure they receive a mortal wound and proceed to chase them all over creation until they think they can escape - or bleed to death for her. She won't finish them off unless her hunger overpowers her need to torment her victims.
CANNIBAL:*cough* you heard me right. Arra is a cannibal, or she fancies herself one. She'll take a bite out of a fellow horse any day or night and enjoy the flesh she's torn into. She won't necessarily kill them, though. That would just be stupid. The kind of fight necessary to kill her fellow equid is just not worth the injuries it would risk.
WEATHER:Good, bad, or in-between, Ra adores weather. In the rain or in the snow, she will do the funky-flow. Yeah she thinks everything has it's ups and downs with the weather department. From being incredibly hot and dry to hot and humid to cold and dry and cold and humid and rainy and everything in between weather is a fascinatingly wild and unconfined subject. If there is anything in the world freer than the weather she hasn't met it yet. The more volatile and spontaneous the weather the more she likes it!
FIELDS:Nice, big, spacious, roamy fields that she can move freely in are perfect. She doesn't mind a shallow woods, or a small-medium clearing but she just loves great big fields. Especially flat fields. The hilly ones are great and all but they hamper her movement and force her to pay more attention to her bodies necessary adjustments than a flat field. A flat fields only danger is something hidden in the tall grasses and traps that she can jump over.
RIVERS/SWIMMING:Rivers, water, lakes, ponds, anything that provides a great amount of liquid for her to swim and fish she loves. She likes being clean and rolling in shallow pools tends to take care of that, but she also likes the exercise that swimming provides. To stretch her muscles and body and workout and be able to run afterwards as is exhilarating. And to eat while doing it!
Dislikes:PAIN:
let us be perfectly clear with this one; she does not like her pain. Your pain will tickle her pink. What she cannot tolerate is when she is in pain. Oh she has an actual tolerance for it. It's hard not to develop a tolerance to pain with the life she leads but that doesn't mean she has to like feeling it.
DOMESTICATION:All Arra has to go by for "domestication" is the handful of humans that attempted to capture her and the escapees - or released horses - that told their tales. Either way she doesn't like the idea of being captured and forced to do someone elses bidding. Her life is hers to command, not anyone elses, and she will fight for every bit of freedom she has.
COMPASSION/EMPATHY:Emotional beings, compassion, and empathy for others just pisses her off. If you're so weak that you're going to bother with such nonsensical things than you don't deserve the life you've been given and you might as well forfeit it to sustain a more deserving life, such as Arra. She will wordlessly attack anyone expressing "weak" emotions towards her or near her. She's offended by such things as "love", "kindness", and "empathy". Just try to avoid it around her if you like your hide where it is.
BOSSES:While it's prestigious to find yourself in the illustrious ranks of a Herd Ra hates the idea of being led around. She doesn't want anyone to rule above her, period. Because of this she refuses to settle down for anyone or anything. Things could change when she learns the world better but for now she feels that there is no one worthy of leading her.
COMPANIONS:Wait, you thought you could just travel with her? Spend hours of the day or night with her? Chat her ear off and gab all the day long to your hearts content and not be attacked? Ha! Hahahahaha! AHAHAHAHA! I'm so sorry, that just makes me, ooohboy. If you want to piss Ra off quickly this is probably the quickest way to do it. Assume the role of 'companion' and/or 'friend' and you'll be done for. She likes her privacy. And, of course as everything does, it leads back to her freedom and the hampering there-of.
FOALS:Ra - "I didn't even like myself until I was thirty years old."
FORESTS:Anything that hampers her freedom in any way shape or form she dislikes. Forests tend to be incredibly dense and hampering in the movement department. They're great for tracking and hunting prey but when you're in for a quick get away or trying to do other things Forests just. . . no.
MARES:Really, it should come as no surprise to all of you that Ra just doesn't like anyone and fellow mares? Come on, now. There's only room in this world for one madame of majesty! And don't ever project that she's not the epitome of Majesty. Mares are notorious - as much so or possibly more so than foals - for squawking the breeze at any ear that will turn their way. So no, she does not like them.
SPRING:If there was anything else in life more annoying than companions, being bossed around and pain than it's the season "spring". All those stupid foals running around and all those foal makers begging for a baby from every tail that will hold still long enough for a grab yeah-no. Ra wants absolutely no part in it and can never wait for spring to be over and done with.
Weaknesses:HEIGHT:
Ra is incredibly touchy about her height. While every breed that she consists of is fully capable of growing to be 15, 16 and in some cases even 17 hands she's a flat 14 hands- and just barely that! This, of course, leads to other issues such as her height making her a prime target for fellow equines, large predators and even humans that think she can be a perfect small-rider mount.
FEAR:bait a trap with something petrified of being there and she'll be there, right on cue, to enjoy the fear and entertainment you have provided. absolutely cannot help herself. She just. . . she's addicted to everyone else's fear.
LAMENESS:believe it or not she has an old injury in her back right leg that flares up on occasion producing a false laminitis. The inflammation is painful enough without aggravating it but when she's forced to move around to fast - generally canters and gallops - it will quickly exacerbate the injury and produce a more pronounced limp in her gate and hamper her movement. This she cannot stand. Because of the limp she takes to swimming on such days that the injury decides to flare up and stretch the angry muscles in the water where a limp cannot be spotted and the injury can be worked back into a quiet rest in no time. Sometimes it takes up to two weeks for her to stop feeling the flare up, sometimes only a day and night. The flare up can be completely random or caused by a misstep - as the initial injury was - she never knows when it'll happen.
Strengths:RUNNING:
because she loves running so much it would only be natural that she's actually good at this. She's good at high speed maneuvers such as sudden stops, sharp angled turns, weaving patterns and spinning on a dime. It helps to know how to move your body at high speeds when you spend so much time in the go mode.
HUNTING:as in catching her prey hunting. She's very good at this, prides herself for it in fact, and hates when anyone claims they're better than her. Because she's good at it she rarely goes hungry, and in good seasons will even over-eat.
STALKING/TRACKING:both of the hunting and non-hunting varieties she's very good at stalking prey and tracking prey. Hell she'll even track someone that's gone missing if the "price" is right. She won't, however, be kind to anyone on the wrong end of a track. Especially if she gets hungry during the process.
Fears:CAPTURE/DOMESTICATION:
The threat of being captured and domesticated is so real that she's deathly afraid of it. It doesn't keep her from placing herself in situations that could, potentially, lead to her being captured and it's certainly not debilitating, but she feels it none the less and- no, she will not admit to it for anyone.
DEATH/DYING:well, uh-duh. she should fear death and dying. she spends enough time causing death to know that once a life is snuffed it is snuffed. She doesn't want her life to be the one "snuffed" at any point before she's ready. Maybe this is just that freedom and "I'm in complete control" thing flaring back up or maybe it's a genuine fear of death itself, she doesn't care to differentiate them because in the end it's a fear and it gets in her way. THIS is a fear that can potentially be debilitating for her.
Secrets:LOVE:
okay, maybe love was the wrong word for this emotion-hating girl. Carnal lust maybe fits the bill better? She does, from time to time, have her cravings but she stamps those out almost immediately. The last thing she needs is a foal cramping her style!
COMPANIONSHIP:while, yes, she does dislike friends/companions and she does find them annoying she does also like that she isn't alone. If she could find one that valued silence as well as she did then maybe she would be able to put up with them for a while. Not long, but maybe to break the monotony of solo life from time to time.
Dreams:EAT FOREVER:
Yeah, she doesn't ever want to go hungry. If she can always eat then she will always eat. She doesn't like the idea of not eating and it's amazing that she isn't an over-weight lazy little twerp because of this, but it's her dream in life.
INFAMY:while she wants absolutely nothing to do with any of the herds and actually joining their numbers or boasting a rank she will be happy if she becomes infamous. After all it's side-by-side with 'famous' only on the evil bad-guys that makes grown-men scream like little girls and piss their pants end of the food chain. That's what she wants. For her name to be well known and feared, not just her being.
Key Traits:VIOLENCE:
Sorry to say this is not necessarily a temperament issue but more of a need for violence. She's not happy if something isn't going down physically. Whether it's her causing pain to someone else, striking a tree in frustration, or driving fear in other beings she needs it. Absolutely and completely needs the violence in her world. Without it she's not happy and she's not stable.
ATTITUDE:It should go without saying that Arra is a cocky-ass bitch. She's what one would call a ten pound pile of shit in a five pound bag. Her attitude just don't all fit in her little bitty body- which is why it over flows so heavily into her every day life. If you stop and talk to her and force her to actually respond she's gonna have nothing to do or say except sarcastic and possibly cynical things. She'll always have a snide remark or two on hand for every occasion and she won't ever be above initiating the conversation with a snide remark. If you're in her personal space then you're in her personal space; and anything that's in sight is her personal space.
SELF-PRESERVATION:Believe it or not despite her enormous attitude and ego Arra has a fierce sense of self preservation that she refuses to let her be stupid. While she can, and will, be naive or ignorant at times she will never be stupid, or never forgive herself for being stupid. She is more likely to attack/defend herself than run, however, so her self-preservation defaults onto the aggressive end of the spectrum.
AGGRESSION:Not necessarily "violence" but "aggression" is a very big part of Arra's life and world. If you aren't aggressive then you're weak, you're prey, you're. . . . edible. She doesn't like the thought of being pacifistic and she absolutely cannot stand being 'calm and collected'. If she can't be boisterous and show her personality than she wants nothing to do with anyone or anything and her body language will always be aggressive. It won't be hard to figure her signals out once you understand that she's simply an aggressive "dominant" type personality that needs to think it was her idea to do what's asked of her to begin with.
INNOCENCE:yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking. "how can anyone this violent, this cruel, this twisted, be innocent?" the same way a child can be a sociopath but still be naive. She's "innocent" only in certain things and it's at such an extreme that she's almost completely blind to the truth of the matter. Such as the truth behind domestication and the truth behind partnerships and companions and companionships.
