His back and sides are flecked with dark brown, as if the traces of a light rain are still visible upon his coat. A jagged, black tattoo streaks across his left shoulder, drawing the attention away from the softer colors encasing the rest of his body. Another tattoo rests like a crown atop his head, bold black lines dipping into sharp angles between his eyes.

hooves ;; Both San and Kir's hooves are of a simple, unimpressive sandy brown, although some have sworn that Kir's hooves hold the faintest gleam of red.

aura ;; Dancing through Sankron's mane and tail, as well as along his legs, are miniature, bright blue lightning bolts. They crackle as he moves and vary intensity with both the weather and his emotions. Additionally, Sankron's entire body is alive with static electricity. Although his Aura is incapable of causing pain, prolonged contact may cause an unpleasant tingling sensation.

wings ;; Whenever Kir is in control, in addition to the more subtle physical changes, a pair of wings extends from his shoulders in tendrils of black smoke. The more agitated Kir becomes, the more violently the smoke swirls and writhes. The wings are also strung with blue lightning bolts that flash and flicker and are followed by a subtle trace of thunder.

protective ;; Having grown up with such a respectable father figure, San has a fatherly air about himself as well. He cares deeply for nearly everyone he meets, especially the younger, more impressionable souls, and the thought of causing pain is absolutely abhorrent to him. His particularly strong need to protect others is caused mostly by Kir. San has created and maintained the illusion that, if only he tries hard enough, he can save those near to him from the destruction his alternate self is hell-bent on causing.

indecisive ;; Riddled as he is with self-doubt, even the simplest of decisions can be agonizing for Sankron. He can spend hours dreaming up potential negative consequences or worst-case scenarios, and little of his fretting is ever directed towards the good that could come out of certain choices. Stuck forever in the hazy, gray area between the safety of inaction and the desire to act, the stallion is rarely satisfied with the conclusions he draws.

reserved ;; Although Sankron was much more outgoing in his youth, his now-unpredictable nature has led him to shy away from most social situations. This is not to say that he refuses to hold conversations or simply doesn't grow attached to others; in fact, his kind, fatherly personality compels him to do so. However, San will do everything in his power to push away those who would put themselves at risk should they choose to associate with him (which is everybody, mind you).

paranoid ;; Although San and Kir's personalities occupy nearly opposite ends of the spectrum, they do overlap in one regard: their unflagging paranoia. Neither can shake the sense of dread that looms over them, for they can never fully predict when the controlling personality will be shut down. Sankron is always trying to anticipate when Kir's violence will burst forth, and Valkire does all he can to prevent Sankron resuming control.

apathetic ;; Other than what he picks up on from Sankron, Kir is incapable of experiencing a full range of emotions. The lust for pain and suffering is omnipresent, as is the twisted sense of pleasure he gains from causing it, but the concepts of love, sadness, anxiety, or fear are entirely foreign to him. Nor does he have any desire to attempt to understand them; he can't begin to fathom why others would be so emotionally weak, which further fuels his hate and, therefore, the justification for his aggression.

cunning ;; What makes Valkire's violent rages particularly dangerous is that he does not blindly and immediately attack, or at least not all of the time. Like Sankron, he could easily spend hours brooding over a single problem, searching for the best possible means to his desired ends. There are, to put it simply, no lines for him to cross. "Too far" does not exist in Kir's universe. He may not be the most brilliantly devious mastermind to have ever lived, but the time he spends cooped up in San's subconscious is time spent developing new methods of mischief.

malicious ;; Kir is the nightmare that never ends, the one demon you can never shake off your back. He was meant to enjoy violence, and the beast won't cease his merciless rampage until the fear of death and destruction haunts the eyes of every soul in Alcryst. An accidentally fabricated personality, Kir has been given no trace of conscience or remorse, which lurks within even the cruelest of horses. Nothing will stand in his path, even if removing the obstacle requires manipulation, torture, murder, or possibly something even worse. Kir's personality may seem rather one-dimensional, but in truth, Kir was created this way. Sankron's mind needed a way to deal with traumatic events, and the solution is far more effective than San could have ever guessed.

running ;; For San, running has proven to be the easiest way to escape both his problems and his own troubling thoughts. He's noticed that Kir's influence is weaker while he's focused on some sort of challenging, physical task.

birds ;; It seems a rather simple thing, but watching birds in flight brings a strange calmness to San that he lacks at most other times. He both admires and envies them for their nearly unlimited freedom and wishes he could escape so effortlessly.

thunderstorms ;; The jumbled chaos of a raging storm is a welcome companion for Kir and his lightning-quick temper, while Sankron is able to lose himself (while remaining himself) in the midst of pelting rain and violent winds.

being in control ;; Due to Kir's nature, he is incredibly ill at ease whenever he doesn't have full control of a situation. Asserting dominance over others brings Kir immense pleasure and is one of few things that creates any semblance of honest emotion within him.

pain ;; Although Kir isn't averse to feeling physical pain himself, forcing it upon others provides him with a giddy sense of fulfillment. (He also finds it vaguely amusing.) It is, after all, what he was created to do.

dislikes ;;

himself ;; Sankron is an incredibly self-critical fellow, and he's constantly picking out things he'd like to fix. He's never good enough for himself, though he refuses to lower his impossibly high standards.

the night ;; As Kir has less trouble seizing control while the world is darkened, Sankron's anxiety worsens without fail as the sun sets.

lies ;; There are few areas where San and Kir overlap, but this is perhaps the most prominent. Although the consequence for lying to San will simply be the loss of his respect, lying to Kir will earn you a far worse (and probably violent) punishment.

rebels ;; Kir expects nothing short of total compliance from anyone who's received one of his orders, whether or not he's technically in charge of the other. Any form of rebellion will be punished, and with even more deliberate ferocity than usual.

the sun ;; Shoving Sankron's personality aside becomes much more difficult whenever the sun is shining, making the fiery orb one of Kir's most hated adversaries.

weaknesses ;;

naivety ;; Sankron has a tendency to see only the best in others and operates on an I'll-trust-you-until-you-screw-me-over type of agenda. Naturally, this opens the door for betrayal and disappointment, but the old boy has yet to learn his lesson.

arrogance ;; As Kir considers himself tremendously superior to Sankron, this sentiment carries over to his opinion of anything else that moves and further feeds his sense of pride. It may give Kir a major confidence boost, but it also blinds him to potential threats.

sankron ;; The only thing that prevents Kir from being the ultimate harbinger of pain and destruction is Sankron. Even when Kir is in control, Sankron has, on occasion, been able to prevent Kir from acting as he normally would, and any time during which San is in full control is time lost for Kir.

strengths ;;

empathy ;; Although Kir is incapable of relating to the emotions of others, one of the few things in which San can take pride is his strong sense of empathy. He cares deeply for others, especially those under his protection, and will do everything in his power to understand how they feel and act accordingly to best help them.

loyalty ;; Sankron is incredibly devoted to any he considers himself responsible for, and those who have found their way past both Kir and San's own barriers and attained the title of friend will find themselves under Sankron's full protection. Hardly any request could go beyond what he's willing to do for those that possess his loyalty.

detachment ;; Without the ability to distance himself from any "weak" emotions, Kir would be rendered unable to commit such violent, heartless acts. It's this unflagging detachment that's responsible for the majority of Kir's personality, and if not for San's influence, he would be able to maintain it all the more flawlessly.

kir ;; Sankron lives in an inescapable state of fear due to the ever-present threat of Kir making an appearance. Although San is relatively safe from Kir's wrath, San is terrified of what he might do to others while under Kir's influence. Being responsible (although somewhat indirectly) for the suffering of others is something with which he struggles to cope.

death ;; More than anything else, Kir dreads the end of his existence, for now that he has tasted life and the power he's capable of holding over other living creatures, he refuses to let it go.

role model ;; Although Sankron would never admit it, he wishes he were more bold and assertive, like Kir (just without all the psychopathic, violent stuff). Kir's ability to make decisions immediately and without regret, the respect he demands, and his blatant disregard of others' opinions are all personality traits that San wouldn't mind having.

the mare ;; Although Sankron tends to be a forgiving soul, he has not yet found it in himself to forgive the mare who led him into the clutches of humans. This weighs heavily on his mind, but should he come across that mare again, he doubts he could find a single kind word for her. On the contrary, that mare might be the only one in all of Alcryst that is exempt from Kir's all-consuming wrath, for without her, Kir would never have been created.

safety & comfort ;; Not once since his captivity (and, consequentially, the development of Kir) has Sankron felt truly safe and at ease. He's constantly anxious and on edge, fearing whatever damage Kir will cause next. Although he has nearly given up hope, San dreams that one day he will come to terms with his second personality.

freedom ;; Both San and Kir long to be free of the opposite personality and would stop at nothing to eliminate their other half.

mental health ;; Sankron's peculiar personality condition was originally inspired by Jekyll & Hyde and is based heavily upon Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). For any of you unfamiliar with and/or curious about this disorder, a quick search on the Internet will reveal plenty of information.

As San's history states, he came into the possession of a particularly brutal human owner. Unable to cope with both the physical and emotional toll, Sankron's mind created an entirely new personality that could better handle the traumatic situation. This alternate personality, who now identifies as Kir, was created with the sole purpose of defending the shy, innocent, and overwhelmed Sankron. While Kir is in control, Sankron blacks out, freeing him from reality, and he can recall little, if any, of what happened during that time.

Kir was intended to be nothing more than a defense mechanism, but now that San is no longer a "Tamed" horse, Kir isn't satisfied with merely putting up a good fight whenever Sankron is under duress. No, he's come much further than that, and the end result is far more sinister than San's subconscious could ever have anticipated.

Insults ;; Being an incredibly prideful being, any insult directed at San can easily leave you facing an enraged Kir. In an inadvertent sort of way, Kir is standing up for San.

Danger ;; Kir was originally created to cope with the abuse Sankron faced at the hands of his human owner, so any threat of physical danger is likely to summon Kir.

Romance ;; Sankron has never been a particularly romantic being, and whenever things seem to be heading in that direction, he grows anxious, which makes it that much easier for Kir to take over. This contributes greatly to Sankron's fear of forming relationships with others.

Nighttime ;; Kir is much more likely to take over once the sun has set, the darkness in his soul mirroring the darkness of the night.

Random ;; Kir is gaining power to appear randomly, especially at inconvenient moments. This is particularly alarming because San is supposed to be the dominant personality.

Time ;; The most likely way to restore San as the present personality is to wait out Kir's turn. Most often, San will regain control after ten to twenty minutes, but at some times, especially in emotionally intense situations, Kir can remain in control for several hours, potentially even days, at a time.

Compassion ;; Although Kir doesn't feel compassion, seeing a creature in pain is sometimes enough to bring out Sankron's personality again. You shouldn't count on begging to save you from Kir's wrath, though.

Sunlight ;; San is much more likely to be in control while the sun is out, the golden rays bringing out his warmer personality.

Random ;; For inexplicable reasons, Kir might shut down in the middle of a tirade, but it is much more likely that Kir's personality will weaken and fade away over the course of several minutes.

In the meantime, what she does have is enough, but she'll always continue striving for more.

motherhood ;; BIf Amalia ever does manage to overcome her aversion towards long-term relationships, she'd like to raise her own child with another woman, providing her kid with the family life she never had. She's considered adopting from the orphanage while remaining single, but until she's ready for stability and commitment to another adult, she doesn't feel as though she can be fully prepared to take care of a child.

His neck is gracefully arched, extending smoothly into his sloped shoulders and long, tapering legs. The Westphalian blood contributes some additional muscle to Vitri's slender figure, but most would not consider him to be threatening, at least in a physical sense.

pelt ;; Dyed in a rich shade of teal, Vitri's short fur lies flat against his skin and leaves him constantly shivering during the winter months.
