I. To register, click on "profile" to the bottom right of the cbox.
II. Match your cbox name with your ooc account's display name.
III. Alcryst is home to any and all, so please refrain from ignoring or excluding guests and members or forming cliques.
IV. No IC soliciation or advertisement.
V. It is impolite to pressure someone into posting if it seems to make them uncomfortable. Err on the side of caution whenever unsure.
VI. To let someone know you posted for them, please tag them in your thread so they receive proper notification, rather than alerting them each time with the cbox.
VII. If you feel ignored, do your best to involve yourself in the conversation. Should you still seem excluded despite your true efforts, message a staff member or use our Grievances board so we can help ensure this doesn't happen again, to you or anyone else. A friendly community is important to us! Don't worry, we will always be discreet and professional.
VIII. We are all friends and certainly want to share with one another, but please keep awkward topics to more appropriate areas, like Palaver, an instant messenger, or private messaging, whenever possible. Though there's no black-and-white description, such conversations may be overly personal, particularly dark or depressive, uncomfortably vulgar, clearly one-sided or unappreciated, highly controversial like religion or politics, combative, exclusive, or otherwise cause a sense of tension.
IX. If a guest or new member has a question, try to cite sources when answering (such as a link to an official thread) or let a staff member handle it. We don't want incorrect information passed along!
X. Should a troll or troublemaker post in the cbox, ignore them and promptly message a staff member so we can ban them. It's key that you don't respond to them! That just feeds the nasty little creatures.
XI. Don't ask a staff member to perform a staff task through the cbox. Task requests should be made through Invocation. Feel free to alert staff when you first post a new Invocation thread, though, as they might've missed it.
The golden rule is simple:
Treat everyone with the respect you desire.
Don't pester, pressure, or push...
And treat everyone with a smile. :)
I. You may post any Alcryst-related promotions in the adbox. This includes but is not limited to: plots, roleplay threads, IC or OOC contests/games, occupational services, wanted ads, shop sales, art/code requests/sales, herds, guilds, and anything else that requires other members to participate or view.
II. The adbox may only be used for advertisement. You may not respond in the adbox nor may you discuss its content in the cbox. Feel free to make use of threads and PMs to converse on the topic.
III. Advertisements must be posted by the account most logically related to them. For example, a stand sale would be posted by the merchant's account.
IV. There is a limit of 1 post per collective advertisement, meaning you have 256 characters to convey your message and may not continue onto a 2nd post. This includes links. Note: you can remove board/thread names from the end of Alcryst URLs and they will still function so long as the ID number is intact. For example, http://alcryst.forums.net/board/1 is a functioning link despite the removal of the board name.
V. The adbox shows up to 20 posts. There may only be 1 visible post advertising the same event at a time. Therefore, you may repost the same promotion once your original post expires. You may also delete and repost your advertisement, effectively bumping it to the top, once a week at most.
VI. To delete a post, click on the X to the far right of your post. To edit one, hover your cursor over your post and select the "edit" option that appears. Deleted posts disappear immediately without confirmation and are not retrievable. Edited posts say [edited] to the left of their timestamp.
VII.Classifieds contains a comprehensive list of what may be advertised as well as additional solicitation options.

Winter until ##/##/##
Winter has frosted Alcryst like the cold blush of a corpse, hardening every surface with frigid ice searing through the depths of its heart. The plants are lethargic and slow, the sky is desaturated and dull, and the wind is a violent gale ripping apart flesh and soil alike.

The scratches of quill on ink sing through the quiet library halls, the air hazed with dust released from ancient scrolls. Devoted writers and readers of the extensive collection stand to earn rewards, expanding the mind mutually expanding the body.
Characters can earn 2 to 3 stat upgrades for writing literature for the library's archives. Only IC accounts are permitted. Any form of literature is permitted, such as prose or poetry, but must be relatively clear in its wording. Writing that is too excessively flowery or intricate for an average reader to reasonably comprehend will not qualify.
Each separate literature submission must consist of at least 500 words and may reach up to 1,000 words as desired. Submissions under 750 words will receive 2 stat upgrades whereas submissions over 750 words will receive 3 stat upgrades.
Literature submissions may be Alcrystan myths or legends, child fairytales, fictional stories, personal family histories, and other subjects within the realm of Alcryst. You may also write a series, such as an overall book with each submission as a new chapter. They may involve the gods, ancient royalty or wars, stories of creations or destructions, interactions between the original humans and horses, or another topic that does not impede on current society with some exceptions. If another character is affected by your submission, such as a romeo-and-juliet styled family history, you must first secure the roleplayer's public permission to ensure they are comfortable with their character's involvement. Special administrator approval is also required if the submission may affect the current site, such as claiming a current character was once a king. You do not need approval for IC events that were explicitly roleplayed on the site, so long as your portrayal of the event is accurate to its details and your character reasonably witnessed, partook, or heard about the event IC.
If your writing will affect any recent or current events or existing characters, first post in Inquisitions to request approval from administration. As your premise may be rejected, it is advised to speak with administration prior to investing any time into writing the submission.
Literature submissions must have a theme relevant to the stat field they wish increased. For example, if you desire to increase your character's strength stat, you might write a myth similar to Hercules, Sisyphus, or Atlas--though you may not copy any existing myths identically to ensure your own creativity is utilized and the effort expended is fair to other writers.
Submissions must have overall grammatical accuracy, including spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure. Though mistakes are permitted, there must be a general display of effort put into the piece.
At the bottom of your submission, you must include 5 questions pertaining to what you have written. These questions must be sensibly difficult but not impossible.
Post your submission in the main Sundry Tower board. Include which stat you are upgrading at the top, your submission in the middle, and your 5 questions at the bottom. Apply the label "Submission" to your thread and then post in Invocation to alert staff. If staff find an issue with your submission, such as a clear lack of effort or confusing plotline, they will add the label "Pending" and inform you of the issue. When you have fixed the problem, notify staff through Invocation and request they review your submission again. This will continue until there are no further issues.
Next, message the answers to your 5 questions to whichever staff member is specifically handling your submission. They will verify your questions are properly difficult but still possible for your average reader. Include how the reader would reasonably discern each answer from the text. The involved staff member will not be allowed to answer the questions for your submission as they are already privy; therefore, staff will attempt to rotate who handles each submission, so responses to your thread in Invocation may be slower than an average task. Please be patient when waiting for review. Your submission post will be edited with a staff note indicating which staff member has reviewed your questions for easy reference.
Once staff have approved your submission, they will upgrade your chosen stat field and move your thread to the sub-board matching the corresponding stat.
You may submit a new piece of literature to the Towers once every 7 days.
Answering the questions posed by the accepted submissions can earn you 1 stat upgrade per correct answer. Only IC accounts are permitted. Post your guess in the submission's thread located in one of the Towers sub-boards and tag the author's IC and OOC accounts. The author will post if your answer is correct or incorrect; if correct, post in Invocation for staff to upgrade the corresponding stat. If the author does not respond within 72 hours, you may tag the staff member named in the submission's staff note, asking them to post if your answer is correct or incorrect.
Each question may only be answered once. When a correct answer is given, the author will cross out the question in the submission. When all 5 questions have been correctly answered, the thread will be moved into the Archives.
If an author is unsure whether an answer qualifies as correct or incorrect, they may message the assigned staff member who originally reviewed their submission.
Characters may answer 1 question once every 72 hours across all submissions.
