Through tests of strength, agility, endurance, and speed, a horse's true merit can be ascertained. The variety of events hosted by The Salorium provides both riders and their steeds with the opportunity to be recognized for their excellence.

Points, Levels, Tiers, and More
Because stat values can vary wildly between characters, those at a similar point in their training will be grouped together during competitions. High stats aren't the only thing you'll need to win, as you'll read below, but pitting a horse with twenty wins behind it against one that's just starting its showing career is hardly a fair fight. This system of dividing entries may seem confusing at first, but we'll be doing most of the work for you anyway.
- Points & Levels - As horses compete, they will earn points. In each event, the horses who place first, second, and third will earn multiple points (the exact number varies with Tier and Style), but every horse that completes the event without being disqualified will earn one point. The number of points a horse has will determine its Level. A horse's Level determines which Tiers (SJ, XC, & TR) or Styles (HT) in which it is eligible to compete. A horse will have one level for each event, which means its Hunting Level may be different from its Show Jumping Level. The Solarium will track the points and Levels of every horse that competes in Solarium events in THIS THREAD. All Levels are determined by the following point scale:
- Level 1: 0-4 Points
- Level 2: 5-19 Points
- Level 3: 20-39 Points
- Level 4: 40-69 Points
- Level 5: 70-99 Points
- Level 6: 100-149 Points
- Level 7: 150+ Points
- Tiers - Tiers add another level of depth to the Solarium showing experience because they allow for some choice in the type of opponents you face. A Level 3 horse that already has high stats might do well in Tier II, or even the Open Division, but a Level 3 horse with lower stats would be more likely to succeed in a Tier III event. It's up to you to develop the strategy that works best for your horse or rider. Below, the five different Tier options are listed, along with which horses are eligible to compete in each, the cost to enter the event, and the Points and Coin payout awarded to the top three places. The payouts are listed as percentages because the exact Coin amount will vary with how many entries participate in an event. In other words, the more entries, the higher the payout. If the payouts seem low to you, keep in mind that, between posting your entry and posting in the show thread itself, you will be guaranteed to earn at least 8 Coins, regardless of how you place. Tiers are used in Show Jumping, Cross Country, and Track Racing.
- Tier IV: Open to Level 1 horses only.
- Entry Fee: 5 Coins
- 1st Place: 6 Points, 20% payout
- 2nd Place: 4 Points, 15% Payout
- 3rd Place: 2 Points, 5% Payout
- Tier III: Open to Level 1, 2, and 3 horses.
- Entry Fee: 8 Coins
- 1st Place: 8 Points, 22% payout
- 2nd Place: 6 Points, 17% Payout
- 3rd Place: 4 Points, 7% Payout
- Tier II: Open to Level 3, 4, and 5 horses.
- Entry Fee: 12 Coins
- 1st Place: 10 Points, 24% payout
- 2nd Place: 8 Points, 19% Payout
- 3rd Place: 6 Points, 9% Payout
- Tier I: Open to Level 5, 6, and 7 horses.
- Entry Fee: 15 Coins
- 1st Place: 12 Points, 26% payout
- 2nd Place: 10 Points, 21% Payout
- 3rd Place: 8 Points, 11% Payout
- Open Division: Open to horses of any level.
- Entry Fee: 20 Coins
- 1st Place: 18 Points, 35% payout
- 2nd Place: 16 Points, 25% Payout
- 3rd Place: 14 Points, 15% Payout
- Tier IV: Open to Level 1 horses only.
- Styles - Instead of Tiers, the Hunting Trials come in different Styles. In addition to affecting the entry fees, points awarded, and payouts, different Styles incorporate entirely different methods of hunting. The types are explained briefly below:
- Single Trials: Open to all horses.
- A single horse and rider duo hunts.
- Entry Fee: 5 Coins
- 1st Place: 6 Points, 20% payout
- 2nd Place: 4 Points, 15% Payout
- 3rd Place: 2 Points, 5% Payout
- Team Trials: Open to horses of Level 3 and higher.
- Two or more horse/rider duos hunt together collaboratively.
- Entry Fee: 8 Coins
- 1st Place: 8 Points, 22% payout
- 2nd Place: 6 Points, 17% Payout
- 3rd Place: 4 Points, 7% Payout
- Combative Trials: Open to horses of Level 5 and higher.
- Two or more horse/rider duos hunt simultaneously, competing against one another.
- Entry Fee: 12 Coins
- 1st Place: 10 Points, 24% payout
- 2nd Place: 8 Points, 19% Payout
- 3rd Place: 6 Points, 9% Payout
- Solo Trials: Open to horses of Level 7 only.
- A riderless horse hunts and must return its prey to its owner.
- Entry Fee: 15 Coins
- 1st Place: 12 Points, 26% payout
- 2nd Place: 10 Points, 21% Payout
- 3rd Place: 8 Points, 11% Payout
Judging & Scores
Although rider and horse stats play an important role in determining who wins any event, they are but one part in a formula that has been developed to calculate a final score for each entry. The factors involved in this scoring system are explained below.- Stats - The individual stats that will be assessed during each event will be listed in the entry thread for that event. Although multiple stats will have an effect on an entry's score, not every stat will affect the score to the same extent. For example, in a Show Jumping event, Horse Speed might impact scores more than Rider Agility. The mathematical role each stat plays in the score formula will not be revealed, but each horse and rider's strengths and weaknesses should be taken into account when deciding which type of event the pair could be most successful in.
- Writing - Each horse's and rider's showing post will receive a score on a 1-100 scale. Posts will be evaluated based on grammatical accuracy, flow and eloquence of writing, inclusion of assigned faults and special factors (see below), and adherence to the character's biographical personality. In other words, to maximize your score, write a quality post that doesn't deviate from how your character would typically behave.
- Faults - In the first post of every show thread will be a list of entries, each followed by two pieces of information. The first reveals the number and type of faults each entry must include in their post. The faults are determined randomly through a number generator. It is up to you to write about these faults in your post; excluding them will eliminate you from the competition.
- Injuries -
- Special Factors - The second piece of information by each entry in a show thread is the randomly determined special factor. This will affect the behavior of the horse or rider in their post, and ignoring this factor will result in much lower writing score for whichever character the factor is meant to directly affect (horse or rider). Each special also has an effect on one stat, either improving or reducing it, but the affected stat will not be revealed.
- Formula - The values of all four factors listed above will be entered into a form, which automatically determines a score for the horse and rider combo. The formula itself will not be released publicly.
