Voids Procedures

We understand when other priorities beckon; Alcryst is built for enjoyment, not entrapment. Therefore, Voids presents a fair exchange, balancing the needs of both present and absent members. Just as dormant roleplayers are protected from punishment, the site and its active members are equally safeguarded through away threads, documenting intentional disappearances to avoid frozen plots and abandoned accounts.

Members should post in Voids when they will be absent; it is not mandatory to supply a reason. Creating an away thread will prevent official penalties, such as IC systems with time limits or missing activity checks. Personal affairs, such as plots with other roleplayers or deals between characters, are not regulated by staff.
When creating an away thread, you should include which date you anticipate returning to Alcryst. Add your chosen return date to the thread description, formatted as MM/DD/YYYY or writing out the full month and day. Thread descriptions are entered into a secondary text field beneath the subject when viewing the posting page. If you do not provide a specific return date, staff will automatically set the date 30 days away. Alcryst subscribes to Central Standard Time and adheres to Daylight Savings.
Return dates protect present members from grid-locked plots and threads, safeguard the site from accumulating abandoned accounts, and shield absent members from being archived or deleted during long-term leaves where they may be otherwise presumed permanently gone.
You must paste the link to your Voids away thread into the field called "Away Post" under edit profile > personal. This will generate a banner in your mini-profile declaring your away status. Absences are not officially valid unless this field is completed in your OOC account and all IC accounts. If you have set a return date, you must include the selected date in the field "Return Date" under edit profile > personal.
You may extend, shorten, or otherwise alter your return date at any point by posting in your away thread and updating both your mini-profiles and your away thread's description.
After your return date passes, staff will archive your away thread and remove the away status from your OOC and IC account mini-profiles. Unless renewed, your immunity will expire and your accounts will be subject to standard system procedures again.
Absences do not necessarily entail complete inactivity. If establishing an away thread for semi-activity, you are still welcome to make OOC posts and speak in the cbox freely. However, you may not make any IC posts unless you revoke your away status.
While it is optional to utilize Voids for quitting posts, your account cannot be deleted unless you post in Invocation. Deletion is irreversible and staff may decline deletion requests under rare, case-by-case circumstances.
Inactivity is defined by the following criteria:

A character is considered inactive if they have not made an IC post in the past 60 days. OOC posts, such as trackers and plots, do not qualify as activity. This does not affect other characters or the roleplayer's OOC account.
A member is considered inactive if they have not made any IC posts using any of their character accounts in the past 60 days. Interaction in the cbox and OOC posts do not qualify as activity. If the member posted an away thread but their return date has passed, then they are considered inactive if they do not reappear within 60 days from their return date.
