A Battle is any IC physical confrontation between Humans or Tamed/Untamed Horses within its own species with a predetermined prize for the victor and/or loss for the defeated party/parties. Not all fighting is considered a Battle if it does not meet this specific criteria of a win and a loss, such as a duel of random passion or a thief attempting to simply overpower another character and take their property.
Prizes could include money, items, occupational discounts, territory, art, anything you feel is worthy compensation. Losses generally are the loss of whatever the prize is, such as money or items, or having to fulfill the prize, such as creating art or offering discounts. However, it could be separate from the Prize additionally, such as the Prize is the victor cannot be bothered again by the defeated party, who must also brand themselves. In this case, the prize and loss are not related.
Multiple Prizes and Losses can be established.
Battles can occur in any thread in any IC board. They must be between at least 2 characters but can have more involved, whether they are affiliated or additional opponents. You may only play 1 character in any given Battle.
The victor must receive their prize and the defeated party/parties must receive their consequence, there is no renegotiating or negating. This will be staff enforced if necessary. The Battle is considered a binding physical contract upon engagement, meaning you can withdraw any time before the first attack.
Humans must be at least 36 to partake in a Battle. Horses must be at least 8.
Battles require consent from all participating parties. If you do not want to be included, you cannot post in that thread once the Battle begins until the Battle is finished. IC, you can be considered a spectator but will not be involved in the fight. Once all participants have agreed and understand the prize/loss declared, the Battle can officially commence. Permission can be granted as mere OOC Notes or through actual IC roleplay.
If all parties do not agree to the prizes and losses beforehand, they are free to negotiate OOC or IC until a compromise can be met.
No one may enter a Battle once it has begun.
Powerplay is allowed in Battles if, and only if, it follows the site's strict rules explained in Atheneum.
Your Battle must have a clearly-distinguished starting post that contains an OOC Note alerting staff of the Battle's start, upon which they must post in Invocation so staff are aware a Battle is ongoing. Someone will post in your Invocation post saying they volunteer to monitor and regulate the Battle. Staff will not delete your Invocation post until after the Battle is complete.
The first post does not have to be a direct attack but most contain some offensive, or at least defensive, maneuver that qualifies as warfare. Merely taunting your opponent, continuing discussions, standing still, and other non-confrontational interaction does not qualify.
Once the starting post is made, the thread must be labeled "Battle."
Each participant is required to make 5 Battle posts, meaning a minimum of 10 will be posted but more can accumulate if there are further participants.
Your character's first participating post in the Battle must outline anything they will be using, from Weapons to Companions. You cannot equip or utilize anything later on that was not defined in your entry post.
Battle posts consist of physical confrontation: blocking, attacking, utilizing Companions, Messengers, and/or Powers, etc. Strategies between teams, if applicable, should be discussed prior, whether in the actual Battle thread or in a separate location.
Each participant can Attack 5 times and Block (dodges included) 3 times. There is no limit to how many of your allotted Attacks/Blocks you can use in a single post but there needs to be at least one Block or Attack (by you and/or your Companion/Messenger) in every post to ensure it still meets the confrontation requirement.
Companions/Messengers can each Attack twice and Block their host once. They do not block themselves because their injuries are only reflections of their host's injuries. Inanimate Companions, such as a floating orb, cannot partake in Battles, which is limited to animate/living Companions.
Tamed Horses can partake in a Human's Battle but only in a Companion-like position. They will not earn any prize nor suffer any loss but they can be used for two Attacks, one Block, riding, and other actions within the thread. Tamed Horses must be roleplayed by their respective roleplayer and cannot make more than 5 posts but can make fewer.
All Battle posts must be thorough and logical. Unrealistic Attacks or Blocks will count severely against you in Staff Judgment and may result in disqualification. Unrealistic Attacks and Blocks are god-moding, unfair powerplay, something that could not occur logically, an unrealistic amount of damage caused (whether too small or too large), etc.
You must respect what each participant brings to the fight. Their Stats, Powers, Companions, Messengers, Damage Value of Weapons, and Defense Value of Armor all affects the outcome. If theirs is superior to yours, you are at a disadvantage and will have to compensate with further efforts toward other judging criteria.
A Battle expires after each participant has posted 5 times. It must follow a posting order. Each post must be at least 200 words but can be no more than 400 words for the sake of the Staff Member reviewing the Battle. Once finished, make another post in your Invocation thread for the Staff Member's attention.
Staff will post the winner and any defeated parties as an OOC note based on:

Number of participants (if it was 3 against 1, the side with 3 has an obvious advantage)
Number of superiorities (Stats, Powers, Companions, Messengers, Defense Values, Damage Values)
Quality of posts (creativity, grammatical accuracy, appropriate length, comprehensive and accurate vocabulary, spelling, flow of writing, logic and thoroughness)
Keeping to the character's personality (whether an attack, block, thought, or overall action is something the character would normally do based on their biography and previous posts; i.e. a pacifistic horse suddenly turning violent or shy human randomly becoming abrasive)
Response speed (which participant/team responded fastest overall)
Environmental factors (how weather, location, clothing, and other factors interact and affect each other)
Any already-existing Ailments on any participant
The success and failure of each Attack and Block (whether or not it landed if attack or evaded if block, how much damage it caused or prevented, how creative it was, how detailed the explanation was, whether it was the obvious action or something subtle and unexpected, whether you utilized all of your advantages including stats, powers, companions, messengers, defense values, damage values, and/or fellow teammates, whether or not you purposely played on your opponent's weaknesses)

Once the results are posted, you can either ask Staff via Invocation to archive the Battle or resume the roleplay thread. If you choose to resume, other characters can join or re-join. You may turn it in as a Completed Thread in Emulation.
All participants are accepting possible injury, which is almost guaranteed. Injuries will be applied to Ailment at the conclusion of the Battle but, if you are injured during the Battle, you must still respect it throughout and recognize any hindrance it would cause.
Injuries for Humans are healed in the Delphic Provenance. Injuries for Tamed Horses are healed via veterinarians. Injuries for Untamed Horses are healed via Torrid Cauldron. Companions/Messengers are tied to their hosts and thus will heal when their host is healed.
You may receive permanent injury in a Battle, though rare.
Your post is due within 3 days. Therefore, once the Battle commences and each participant posts, thus establishing the posting order if it was not established before, after the person before you in the posting order makes their post, you have 3 days from that post date to make your own.
Once a Battle ensues, fleeing is considered surrender and automatically constitutes defeat, though the Battle can continue without you if there are others remaining. Fleeing can be retreating IC, the roleplayer going Away once the Battle begins, breaking the Battle rules, or not responding in time.

[PTab=Force Claiming]

Force Claiming is forcing a Rogue to join your Herd against their will. It does not require physical confrontation; for example, blackmail.
Only a Domitan, Mattrice, or horse rank they have appointed power to can Force Claim. Common Civires may not.
You may not Force Claim any Horse under the age of 8. Likewise, you may only Force Claim an Untamed Horse.
Force Claiming can only occur in the Wilderness, not the Outskirts. The thread where it occurs must be labeled "Force Claim."
If attempting to physically force a Rogue to join your herd, you must follow the protocol of a Battle, though the Rogue does not need to consent and the result is either the Rogue is defeated and claimed or the Rogue is victorious and free. Only the targeted Rogue and Herd Member can partake in the Battle.
Other methods of Force Claiming, such as trickery or blackmail, requires IC persuasion. For example, if you were holding their Dam at threat of torture, whether or not they submit is their choice but the threat is likely to persuade them.
Whatever method you use, once the Rogue is Force Claimed they may not leave your Herd unless you permit it, they buy an item, they Battle you for freedom, or their sentence Completes.
If they choose to Battle for freedom, they have one attempt. If they lose, they forfeit their Expiration time, meaning they are permanently your Herd Member unless you free them or they purchase an item.
Your Completion is, at the earliest, 30 days after you are officially Force Claimed. Completion requires you to make at least 2 Completed Threads, per Emulation's rules, with your Force Claimed character during their Herd Membership. If you finish 2 Completed Threads before 30 days are up, you must wait until your time is up. If you reach 30 days and you have not finished 2 Completed Threads, then you are not free until you do so.
All Force Claims must be posted in your Syndicate thread so the Completion date minimum is known.
If your character is Force Claimed against your will, you can contact an Administrator via PM to request your freedom. If for some reason the Force Claim is found to be unfair or otherwise breaks our rules, the Administrator may repeal the Force Claim, though highly unlikely.
Force Claimed Horses can choose to remain as a Herd Member if their Domitan allows it.

[PTab=Challenging]

Your character must have been created at least 30 days prior and have completed at least 20 IC posts in order to Challenge.
All qualifications for the rank must be met, such as age and gender.
Your character must belong to the Herd that they are Challenging for.
If you fit these requirements, fill out the below Audition Form and PM it to the head Administrator. The audition is merely to verify that you, as a roleplayer and member, along with your character are fit for the demanding rank. You will either be approved or denied.
If denied, you cannot Challenge that particular Domitan/Mattrice again and must wait at least 30 days to Challenge any other Domitan/Mattrice. During this time, you are encouraged to work on improving, or else the result of your Audition will likely be the same.
If accepted, you may go on to directly Challenge the leader. This must be done as a new IC thread clearly titled "Challenging: Domitan/Mattrice's Name" in one of the Wilderness boards. You must tag both their Domitan/Mattrice account and their OOC Account in this post. You must label your Challenge thread "Challenge."
The Challenged leader has 7 days from the day you post your Challenge thread to respond. If they fail to, you win by default.
Challenges follow the same format and rules as Battles, though they do not require consent from the Domitan/Mattrice and the result is always promotion if the Challenger is successful. It is the Domitan/Mattrice's choice what happens if the Challenger is defeated in the Battle but it must be stated clearly before the Battle begins so the Challenger can change their mind. For example, permanent exile from the Herd, monetary compensation, permanent slavery to the Herd, or any other consequence.
Generally, the thread will be the Challenger declaring their duel, the Challenged showing up, and then the Starting Post for the Battle.
Only the Challenged and Challenger may partake in the Battle.
If you Challenge and lose the Battle, you may not Challenge that Domitan/Mattrice again and you may not Challenge any other Domitan/Mattrice for 30 days.
You can achieve immunity from Challenges through any of the below means:
- If you post IC with your Domitan/Mattrice 10 or more times within 14 days, you will receive immunity for the 14 days immediately after. There is no limit to this immunity. If you continue to meet the criteria during your immunity (making at least 10 posts during your 14-day immunity), the timespan will be extended for the next 14 days, and so on and so forth. In order to qualify, you must post in Invocation with links to all 10 posts. Staff will edit your Herd thread in Syndicate to indicate the immunity. If you want it renewed at the end of your 14 days, you must again post in Invocation with proof.
- If you are Challenged and successfully beat your opponent, you cannot be Challenged again by any Horse for 14 days from the date of the Battle's completion.
- You cannot be challenged while you have a valid Away post up, as dictated by Voids.

In Person

Stealing does not require consent of the victim's roleplayer. However, if you have been stolen from, you can message the Administrator regarding the circumstances in hopes of the stolen property's return. Some situations may warrant a reinstatement.
Property is any inanimate substantial item that the victim is carrying, such as an Embellishment, Weapon, Armor, Bait, Elixirs, Alchemy Potions, Treats, etc. Insubstantial items, such as Powers, Body Part Modifiers, Birthing Items, and others are not susceptible. Companions and Messengers cannot be stolen.
You can attempt to steal only one item of property at a time, each occasion requiring the below procedure. You cannot attempt to steal from the same victim twice, whether successful or unsuccessful, within a 30-day span.
You cannot steal nor be stolen from if your Human is less than 36 years old.
You can attempt to steal property from most any Human in any normal roleplay thread at any time, even if there are other characters involved or the thread is halfway finished. These situations are far more difficult to successfully steal during, though. It is important to note that you cannot attempt to steal in a thread that is already labeled. For example, an IC Interactive thread or a Battle. You also cannot attempt to steal in a thread that is already completed or if the victim has left it.
You cannot steal from any Human that was made within the past 30 days. This means the date their biography was accepted must be at least 31 days prior before you can attempt to steal from them. This gives them time to build their Agility stat as a defense.
The thief's Stealth Stat must be at least equivalent to the victim's Agility Stat at the time of the attempted robbery. If it is not, they cannot even try to steal from that Human.
Attempted thievery risks Recognition and possible consequence. Recognition means the victim saw your face and either will know you from previous interaction or might remember you if they see you again. Recognition is determined through methods explained below. Possible consequence includes the victim taking initiative to track you down, turn you into the Bastille if the theft occurred within Faewin, sue you with a Lawyer, attack you, challenge you to a Battle, or any other action of their choice. What the character does with the knowledge of your identity is their decision and is not regulated by staff so long as it follows any set rule.
Recognition is highly unfavorable for a thief as it harms your reputation amongst the thieving community, weakens your renown, spreads your name and thus makes it harder to accomplish future Thefts, might have an unfavorable consequence if the victim pursues you in any way, and might harm your relationship with the victim if you had one.
To attempt a steal, you need only make a Sneak Post directly after the victim has posted in a thread. A Sneak Post consists of 200 to 400 words detailing exactly how your character would steal the item undetected in the current circumstances based on the victim's most recent post explaining the circumstances. Stealing from someone who is already conversing with you in broad daylight in a crowded street when the item is not visible would be extremely difficult whereas sneaking in the window at midnight when the victim is sleeping with the target on their bedside is far more achievable.
You cannot detect hidden items that you have not witnessed IC and you need to explain how your character knows the target is there. For example, maybe your character has been stalking them IC and saw it at some point or their friend told them IC where it was, so long as their friend got the knowledge. If you know the victim has the targeted property on them but do not know where on them, you can try to explain how you figure it out. Many thieves find it necessary to stalk their victim for at least one thread, if not several, to generate enough information on them to make the steal successful.
All roleplaying in the thread must cease once the Sneak Post is made. It cannot resume until the steal is declared either successful or unsuccessful by staff.
You cannot attempt to steal from a character whose roleplayer is Away. Therefore, if the Victim is validly Away, as determined by the rules in Voids, before you create your Sneak Post then your steal is invalid and has no effect. However, once you make your Sneak Post, if the Victim goes Away any time before the steal is declared successful or unsuccessful then they automatically forfeit the item and the thief is not Recognized nor caught. If the thief goes Away any time during the steal, they forfeit the item and are not Recognized nor caught.
You cannot powerplay in a Sneak Post so if you wanted to interact with the victim in any way, such as causing a distraction, it needs to occur beforehand. Powerplay is not allowed because you are only attempting to steal; staff determines if you are successful or not, which would then determine the outcome of your attempt.
You must include an OOC Note explaining it is a Sneak Post for the victim's awareness and tag their character account and OOC account. After it is posted, you must then label the thread "Thievery" to make sure everyone knows you have hijacked the thread.
The victim has 7 days to respond. If they do not respond within those 7 days, the item is declared forfeit and the thief sneaks off successfully.
If the victim does post within 7 days, they have two options. If they wish, they can declare it an uncontested steal in an OOC Note or an IC Post, which lets the thief get away. This does not necessarily mean the character let the thief have their property, it means the roleplayer did. The character might have been oblivious to the steal or just failed at stopping it. If you decide to make it an uncontested steal, then post in Invocation and staff will award the thief the item. If they do not want to let the thief get away uncontested, then they instead need to post in Invocation for a staff member to come judge the Sneak Post.
Staff first review the Sneak Post and judge if it fully explains all actions and reasoning. If they do not judge it adequate or realistic, they will deny the steal. The thief does not risk Recognition in this case. If determined to be realistic and acceptable, then staff will roll a dice to decide the outcome based on the following criteria:

If the thief's Stealth Stat is less than 2x more the victim's Agility Stat, staff roll a 9-sided dice with 1 meaning success. (1/9 chance)
If the thief's Stealth Stat is at least 2x but less than 4x more than the victim's Agility Stat, staff roll a 7-sided dice with 1 meaning success. (1/7 chance)
If the thief's Stealth Stat is at least 4x but less than 6x more than the victim's Agility Stat, staff roll a 5-sided dice with 1 meaning success. (1/5 chance)
If the thief's Stealth Stat is at least 6x but less than 8x more than the victim's Agility Stat, staff roll a 3-sided dice with 1 meaning success. (1/3 chance)
If the thief's Stealth Stat is 6x+ more than the victim's Agility Stat, staff roll a 3-sided dice with 1 meaning success. (1/3 chance)

If the Thief is declared unsuccessful, they cannot steal the item and means IC that the Victim catches them and they are automatically Recognized. The thread can then resume on the participants' terms or be archived via request in Invocation.
If the thief is declared successful, they can steal the item and means IC that the victim did not stop them and they are not automatically Recognized. However, whether or not you are caught or Recognized is determined by the next two posts:

The thief must attempt their escape, using powerplay that follows the site rules, in a post of 200 to 400 words. They need to explain how they escaped and how they were not Recognized. The more ironclad and logical their post, the higher their chance of success. For example, how can you get away without them seeing you? Do you just flat-out run? How do you prevent the running from drawing their attention? Where do you go in order to escape? Do you climb a wall? Where does that lead? etc. The thief has 7 days to make this post, otherwise they forfeit the item and are automatically Recognized by the victim.
If the thief posted in time, then the victim responds to the attempted escape. How they react is up to the roleplayer; they may be oblivious, they may notice something amiss but be unsure what, or they could notice the theft. This is your chance to try and catch the thief! Anything that your character does must be thoroughly and logically explained. If the thief left a weight where the item should be, for example, how does your character know that it's even missing? If they slipped into a crowd and walked away, how did you spot them and know they were the thief? If they are running away and dropping obstacles behind them, how do you chase them down? Every detail must be completely countered and explained.

If the victim responds in time, you must post in Invocation for Staff to verify whether both posts were logical, make sense, and are acceptable. If the victim's post is declared unfounded, the thief gets away free. If the thief's post is declared unfounded, they are automatically Recognized.
If a thief is Recognized then the victim is free to try and catch them. The victim could chase them, fight them, turn them in, sue them, or any other action they feel is appropriate. Recognition might be as simple as catching sight of a tattoo on the thief and even that small information can let the victim begin interrogating villagers on the owner of such a tattoo.

In Residence

Those who live in an Inn Room are vulnerable to theft from Innkeepers, Maids, and/or third-party intruders in a unique way: through the items they must leave behind. Within every occupied Inn room, staff make a stickied thread where a list of the unattended items is kept. Which items are left here is determined by the roleplayer. You must post in Invocation with a list of your items and explain which ones will always be on your character when roleplaying; the others are then listed in this thread and considered susceptible.
You can only carry as many items as you can realistically and reasonably explain. Normally, these will include Armor, Weapons, and Embellishments, whereas items generally left behind include Potions, Elixirs, Bait, Fishing Poles, Pickaxes, Cattle, Treats, Fish, and other nonessentials. Because of Alcryst's liquid time, which means you can be in any number of threads spanning several different days, there is no way to gauge which items you are currently carrying and thus the vulnerable items are determined by what you will always be carrying.
If staff disagree with your proposal because they feel it impossible or otherwise unacceptable, they will negotiate with you in the Invocation thread to decide which items you can indeed carry and which must be left behind. Once decided, they will add the items into the thread in your Inn room.
You are free to switch around, remove, and add items to your list through Invocation at any time. It must stay updated or your items may be relinquished for a short or even permanent time depending on the severity of its neglect.
Any item in this thread can be targeted by a thief. They must post in the staff-made thread where the items are kept explaining thoroughly in 200 to 400 words how they would manage to get into the room, circumventing any security measures you have taken if applicable, without arousing suspicion or bypassing any witnesses, and any other relevant details. They do not have to tag any accounts to alert them, so it is highly suggested that you bookmark your item thread to be notified if someone posts in it.
The victim has 3 days to post. The Innkeeper also has the capability of intervening if they so choose, assuming they are not the thief. If no one posts in 3 days, the item(s) belong to the thief and they need only post in Invocation for staff confirmation. There is no further IC process in that scenario. If someone does post, the thief has three options: flee, surrender, or fight. If they choose to flee, they do not need to make an IC post and can simply state they ran away in an OOC Note. They are not Recognized and do not get the items. If they surrender, they can again state this in an OOC Note if they prefer, do not get the items, and are Recognized. If they fight, they must begin an IC physical confrontation that may or may not be a Battle depending on what the involved roleplayers prefer. If the thief chooses to fight and is victorious, they escape with the items. Whether or not they are Recognized is determined by their post--if they can logically explain how they were not Recognized, such as wearing a mask that was not taken off at any point, then staff will declare them not Recognized. If they lose the fight, it is up to the victor to decide their fate but it may include injury, capture, Recognition, or even freeing them without consequence.
If the thief flees or surrenders, staff do not need to be alerted as they are automatic outcomes. However, if a fight ensues, staff must be alerted via Invocation so they can judge who wins and whether the thief is Recognized should he/she be victorious.
Thieves may target up to 5 items per break-in so long as they can explain how they carried it and how they got it out of the room. They are also free to try and steal Inn furniture and merchandise for sale on the Black Market, their own personal use, or for whatever other purpose they may have.
Humans of any age and number of stats can be stolen from. However, you can only attempt to steal from the same Human through this method once every 30 days.
You cannot attempt to steal from a Human whose roleplayer is Away by the terms given in Voids. If they go Away after you have already posted in their item thread, then the item is automatically yours. If you go Away after you have entered someone's room to steal, then you automatically "flee" and forfeit the item.
Once the entire thievery process is completed, the posts are archived to keep the thread organized but preserve record of the interaction.
Innkeepers have the option of hiring additional security against theft so long as it is explicitly part of their job description, such as a Mercenary or Maid with IC-stated, pre-approved permission.

[PTab=Stealing Herd Members]

Herd Members can be stolen by another Herd against their will. This requires physically isolating and forcing the Herd Member into your ranks or convincing the Domitan to forfeit the horse to you, which can be through Battle or some other means of persuasion, such as blackmail.
A Domitan must approve the steal but does not have to partake in the action: they could appoint a horse within their Herd the power temporarily or as a chosen rank.
You may not steal any Herd Member under the age of 8. Likewise, they must belong to a different Herd than your own.
Stealing a Herd Member can only occur in the Wilderness, not the Outskirts. The thread where it occurs must be labeled "Herd Steal."
If attempting to physically force a Herd Member to join your herd, you must follow the protocol of a Battle, though the horse does not need to consent and the result is either the horse is defeated and stolen or the horse is victorious and remains in their Herd. Additional Herd Members from either side can partake in the Battle.
Other methods, such as blackmailing the Domitan, requires IC persuasion. For example, if you were threatening to reveal a deadly secret of theirs, whether or not they submit is their choice but the threat is likely to persuade them.
Whatever method you use, once the horse is successfully stolen they may not leave your Herd unless you permit it, they are stolen back by their own Herd, or are stolen by an unrelated Herd. Obviously, it is recommended to create strong bonds with your fellow Herd Members so they are willing to fight for your return and with your Domitan so he is unwilling to forfeit you in the first place.
All stolen Herd Members must be posted in your Syndicate thread.
If your character is stolen against your will, you can contact an Administrator via PM to request your freedom. If for some reason the steal is found to be unfair or otherwise breaks our rules, the Administrator may repeal the steal, though highly unlikely.

[PTab=Stealing Tamed Horses]

Tamed Horses can be stolen by a Human character from their stall, which all Tamed Horses must reside in. Stalls are a sub-board in the Stable's board. Stealing does not require consent of the Tamed Horse's roleplayer nor the Horse's Owner. However, if you have been stolen or stolen from, you can message the Administrator regarding the circumstances in hopes of the Tamed Horse's return. Some situations may warrant a reinstatement.
You can attempt to steal only one Tamed Horse at a time, each occasion requiring the below procedure. You cannot attempt to steal from the same Horse Owner or steal the same Horse twice, whether successful or unsuccessful, within a 30-day span.
You cannot steal nor be stolen from if your Human is less than 36 years old. You cannot steal Tamed Horses under the age of 8.
You cannot steal any Tamed Horse that was acquired by their current Owner within the past 30 days. This meas the date their Certificate of Ownership was posted in Certification must be at least 31 days prior before you can attempt a steal.
You cannot attempt to steal from a Horse Owner whose roleplayer is Away. Therefore, if the Owner of the Tamed Horse is law-abidingly Away before you create your thievery thread, your steal is invalid and has no effect. Once you make your thread, if the Owner goes Away any time before the steal is declared successful or unsuccessful then they automatically forfeit the Tamed Horse and the thief is not Recognized nor caught. If the thief goes Away any time during the steal, they forfeit the Tamed Horse and are not Recognized nor caught.
Attempted thievery risks Recognition and possible consequence. Recognition means the Horse's Owner, Stable Owner, Veterinarian, or Caretaker saw your face and either will know you from previous interaction or might remember you if they see you again. Recognition is determined through methods explained below. Possible consequence includes the character taking initiative to track you down, turn you into the Bastille if it occurred within Faewin, sue you with a Lawyer, attack you, challenge you to a Battle, or any other action of their choice. What the character does with the knowledge of your identity is their decision and is not regulated by staff so long as it follows any set rule.
Recognition is highly unfavorable for a thief as it harms your reputation amongst the thieving community, weakens your renown, spreads your name and thus makes it harder to accomplish future thefts, might have unfortunate consequences if the victim chooses to take action, and might harm your relationship with the targeted victim if you had one.
To attempt to steal a Tamed Horse, you must first create, buy, or otherwise acquire a Sedative via Alchemy in Morrene's Lab. Then, once it's in your inventory, make a new thread in their Stall sub-board labeled "Thievery." In an OOC Note, you must tag the Tamed Horse and the Horse Owner's IC Account and OOC Account, which is 4 Accounts total, so they receive a Notification. Finally, you must write a 200 to 400 word post detailing exactly how your character would sneak up on, administer the Sedative, and thus subdue the target. You can powerplay what the Horse was doing, their position, and basic reaction to the Sedative (such as slowly falling over or relaxing) but not in unnecessary excess (there is no need to say the Horse tried to bite you, for example) and you must respect the character's personality. Keep it at a minimum or your steal may be declared unsuccessful.
From the start of the thread, the Horse's Owner, Stable Owner where the Stall is located, Veterinarian who is specifically employed by the Stable where the Stall is located, or Caretaker of the Stable/Horse has 7 days to respond and intervene. If none of them respond within 7 days, the Horse is forfeited without a fight and the thief will have stolen it successfully and without Recognition. The Horse Owner (Stable Owners/Vets/Caretakers not included) is free to make an OOC Post saying they willingly forfeit the Horse, generally done for plot purposes. Should they choose to fight for their Horse, they (or the Stable Owner/Vet/Caretaker) need to make a 200-400 word post describing any and all actions they take to intervene, whether it be attacking the thief, countering any capture attempts (i.e. cutting the rope holding their Horse), or whatever response they feel appropriate.
If no one posted to fight your theft attempt within the 7 days, make a thread in Invocation for a Staff Member to verify your post was appropriate and the theft is approved. If staff accepts your post, the theft is considered successful and the thief is not Recognized.
If the Horse Owner/Stable Owner/Vet/Caretaker posts within 7 days to intervene, then staff must be again alerted through Invocation so they can then judge if the intervention was successful or not.
Staff first review the two posts and judge if they fully explain all actions and reasoning. If they do not judge the thief's post adequate or realistic, they will deny the steal, and if the responder's post is not up to par then the Tamed Horse is forfeit. The thief does not risk Recognition in either case. If determined to be realistic and acceptable, staff will roll a dice to decide the outcome based on the following criteria:

If the thief's Stealth Stat is less than 2x more the responder's Agility Stat, staff roll a 9-sided dice with 1 meaning success. (1/9 chance)
If the thief's Stealth Stat is at least 2x but less than 4x more than the responder's Agility Stat, staff roll a 7-sided dice with 1 meaning success. (1/7 chance)
If the thief's Stealth Stat is at least 4x but less than 6x more than the responder's Agility Stat, staff roll a 5-sided dice with 1 meaning success. (1/5 chance)
If the thief's Stealth Stat is 6x+ more than the responder's Agility Stat, staff roll a 3-sided dice with 1 meaning success. (1/3 chance)

If the Thief is declared unsuccessful, they cannot steal the item and means IC that the responder catches them and they are automatically Recognized. The thread can then resume on the participants' terms or be archived via request in Invocation.
If the thief is declared successful, they can steal the item and means IC that the responder did not stop them and they are not automatically Recognized. However, whether or not you are caught or Recognized is determined by the next two posts:

The thief must attempt their escape, using powerplay that follows the site rules, in a post of 200 to 400 words. They need to explain how they escaped and how they were not Recognized. The more ironclad and logical their post, the higher their chance of success. For example, how can you get the sedated Horse out of the Stall and away? How does the responder not catch up to you? etc. The thief has 7 days to make this post, otherwise they forfeit the Horse and are automatically Recognized by the victim.
If the thief posted in time, then the responder reacts to the attempted escape. How they react is up to the roleplayer; they may be oblivious, they may notice something amiss but be unsure what, or they could notice the theft. This is your chance to try and catch the thief! Anything that your character does must be thoroughly and logically explained. How can you catch the fleeing thief? How can you not only stop them but also re-secure your Horse? Every detail must be completely countered and explained. They have 7 days to make this post or they forfeit the Horse and the thief is not caught.
If the responder posts in time, you must make a thread in Invocation for staff to verify whether both posts were logical, make sense, and are acceptable. If the responder's post is declared unfounded, the thief gets away free and is not recognized. If the thief's post is declared unfounded, they are automatically caught and Recognized.
If a thief is Recognized it just means the responder can try to take further action against the thief and has some semblance of who they are. The responder could chase them, fight them, turn them in, sue them, etc. Recognition might be as simple as they saw a tattoo on your fleeing figure and can begin interrogating other characters about whom such a tattoo belongs to.

challenging - change wording from immune to something else because immune is currently being used as immune from capture

make sure syndicate says they have to have a record of any force claimed (must record their expiration date on the force claim) and have an area for staff to be putting immunities and a place for stolen herd members

challenging has a duplicate bullet point/rule in it

in person property stealing - final chance should be 8x+ and be 1/2 chance
need to re-evaluate the odds with stealing now that we have max stats

make sure the stickied inventory in inn rooms is talked about somewhere for staff to remember that they need to update it and members to remember they need to post in invo to get it updated--probably in the inn guide if it isn't already, the catalogs where they buy such items, clandestine staff salary for staff, and maybe something in invo itself?

in residence stealing - specify in the 4th to bottom bullet point that it's specifically residence stealing that has no age/agility immunity, since in person does

consider removing the in person age restrictions since so many child pickpockets like to occur and there's no IC reason why they wouldn't be able to

add residence to susceptible in residence stealing, not just inns

what do homeless people do with their items that residence people are doing in the sticky threads? maybe they can't have them? maybe they have to store them somewhere? they can't just carry them but residence people can't carry them, that makes no sense and makes being homeless more appealing than having a residence which is opposite.

in residence stealing bottom bullet point - add that individuals can hire mercenaries as guards as well, not just innkeepers

stealing herd members - remove the note that says you have to steal from a herd other than your own because that's too obvious and made Jay laugh at me

stealing herd members - add cooldown periods from stealing attempts and from stealing back a horse that just got stolen from you and add a snippet that to steal the horse back, you fight the domitan not the stolen horse (as it's your own herd member)

change stealing a horse thievery label to horse thievery instead of thievery and turn in person thievery to property thievery -- ACTUALLY: make in person thievery "robbery," residence thievery "burglary," and horse "equine thievery"

stealing a horse odds are still too difficult for the dice roll due to new max stats

stealing a horse and stealing property have the same ending to their tab but different formats with indents and such, make them identical if they're going to be the same

stealing a horse - add info about bodyguards, security measures, etc.

remove Recognition from stealing property and stealing tamed horses - merge the chance of getting recognized/caught with the success or unsuccess of stealing the item, thus reducing and simplifying the process and base the dice roll odds on the thieves' stats on a every-50-level until the highest max rather than having it be a multiple of the victim's agility since the new max makes it difficult

inns - label for "Burglary"
stable - label for "Equine Thievery"
these do not have to be in all city boards, just establishments. make sure staff salary reminds people to make these labels when making these types of establishments

Stealing Property - 10th Bullet - “how your character would steal the item undetected in the current circumstances based on the victim's most recent post explaining the circumstances.”
- Reword, either get rid of the first or second "circumstances".

From your notes - “what do homeless people do with their items that residence people are doing in the sticky threads? maybe they can't have them? maybe they have to store them somewhere? they can't just carry them but residence people can't carry them, that makes no sense and makes being homeless more appealing than having a residence which is opposite.”
- I feel like homeless people just can’t have that many items. Or they would have to leave them in a ditch somewhere covered with shrubbery and have them SUPER susceptible to theft.

You have to post what is in your inn room. If you want to get one of those things, you have to post in your inn getting it, and then that item can be present in any threads created after retrieval.
If homeless, everything you own is always carried.

be sure to reference this thread in the systems that give you tangible items

[/li][li] When you purchase or acquire a Galleria item to be used for your occupation, it is added to your IC account's "occupational items storage" located in your main profile. To add items to your storage, first post in Invocation for administration to update the shop with the number of items you require. Once alerted that the shop is ready, navigate through the top tabs to find the relevant items and add them to your basket with their right-hand buttons. Once your basket has all items you have purchased or acquired, proceed with the checkout process. The items will not cost any coins, as their price is set to 0. Post in Invocation once you are finished for staff to review that the correct quantities were transferred. Adding or removing your occupational items without administrative approval is not permitted and will warrant OOC action.

[/li][li] Items in your storage can be used IC and have a current effect. For example, if a Tier 1 Pickaxe is in your storage, you may equip it in Empyrean Mines. They can still be traded, sold, or gifted. All characters with an occupation must read the Stealing and Battling guide to fully understand occupational items and their risk of theft.

[/li][li] If your character is not purchasing an item for their occupation, the item is instead added to their "inventory," which is found as a pop-up link in their mini-profile under the "items" tab. Items in your inventory do not have a current effect and cannot be used IC.

all items are set way too expensive for anyone to ever buy. I also think I managed to remove the checkout button, just in case. Therefore, the shop functions only as a catalog. To actually give an item, I will go into the "gift" tab, write up a gift for that item, allow only that member to get the gift, and then give them the link. Once they confirm they received it, I'll delete that entry from the plugin. They can receive 1 type of item per link, but multiple quantities of that item type in one link.
Don't know yet if freelance occupational items can be stolen - I feel like they should - so if I decide they CAN'T be (or perhaps even if they can), go through the occupation official threads and make sure it references reading this guide for information on "occupational storage" AND "potential theft"

battles must have a valid IC reason, can't just be purely random

if I come up with other things to steal besides property and tamed horses for humans, and herd members and force claims for horses, then update the milestone badge

perhaps they can only steal 1 unit per thread? if I make that a standard rule, then update the badge requirements which currently specifies that and it wouldn't need to anymore if it was no longer a badge-specific rule.

for milestone badge notorious thief, current ways to steal for humans: property and tamed horses. for horses: force claims and herd members. if new ways are added, go modify that badge.
notorious thief badge used to say "The thefts cannot occur simultaneously." I removed that because I imagine the overall rules will say it - if they don't, then put it back into the badge rules. I also removed "Each theft requires its own separate thread" because I think that'll also be part of the standard rules - again, add it back in if not
I also removed "You cannot own the targeted character." because I think that'll be a standard rule. It lets people cheat around and pass along unearned items if I allow it

milestone badge for battles used to say "There must be a reasonable IC explanation for their duel. " I removed that because I think I can assume that's going to be a standard rule. If it isn't, then add that rule back into the badge. I also removed "battles cannot occur simultaneously" because I think that is probably going to be a standard rule - again, add it back to the badge if not.

stealing - you cannot have a larger gap between your target's agility than your own stealth stat than X amount (only if yours is less). Maybe 50? For every 5 that you are lower, your chances of success get lower.
Might also do this for battling with comparative combat skills?
