Sabine felt her eyes bulge as Lia indicated where they kept their venomous horse. Panicking, she jumped behind Lia, hoping to put her in the line of fire instead. Sabine knew there were poisonous horses in here. Though, before she even fully protected herself with Lia’s body, the smaller girl began laughing. “Are you kidding me?!” Sabine grumbled angrily. “That’s not funny. For real.” As Lia kept laughing, Sabine just scowled at her. That was something Sabine might do to someone, but having it done to her just made her angry. She should not have believed Lia in the first place; wired in the first place, she could not get a handle on anything. Lia forgot about the joke so quickly that it was easy for Sabine to do the same. Sabine thought that Lia seemed a little bit scatter-brained, but maybe that is how she always was.
When Lia mentioned Sabine’s clothes, she looked down at herself. These clothes weren’t what should would usually wear at all. Generally, her attire was more than revealing; on occasion, downright provocative. She was afraid of being bitten and hoped that this thick material would soften the blow. Being approximately an inch thick, it would have done nothing to protect her. Though, after she took the horse she planned on selling the outfit to some other farm girl. She would have probably made a coin or two on it. That was what she always did with clothes. If she knew she would only wear them on one occasion she would buy them cheap and sell them for a small profit. Sometimes she managed to put up in an Inn; most of the time she stayed on the streets.
Even if what Lia said wasn’t true, Sabine let her believe it was. “Well, thanks. I can’t say you’re wrong, I guess,” she lowered her eyes in embarrassment as she said the words. Sabine did her best to remain ambiguous as she spoke. “I guess I kind of have a little bit of every skill. I’ve done everything short of this,” she motioned around herself at all of the horses. “I never thought I would find myself in a stable, to be honest. Not even just visiting. I never thought it would be my thing.” She carefully emphasized the words in her last sentence. I never thought it would be my thing…. But maybe it is, she was trying to say. Appeasing people made her happy on occasion. Take how this girl reacted to any sort of encouragement as an example. When Sabine grows bored, she likes to entertain herself with play things.
As Lia bragged about her hose catching accomplishments, Sabine nodded encouragingly. “Oh wow! What did she look like? Is she in this stable now?” She looked around eagerly, as if trying to find the horse she spoke about. Sabine assumed the horse wasn’t in the stable; if she had caught it, she would have sold it for a night in an Inn. That could have been what Lia did as well, but if she knew this girl as well as she thought, should would have tried to keep the beast.
The girls continued on their feeding path and then Lia stopped, leaning against a stall door. She was so casual about it! Then there was Sabine who stood awkwardly in the center of the aisle, hoping to stay away from any and all horses teeth. But her excitement at a business prospect clearly caught Lia’s attention and made her less awkward in stance. Sabine smiled as Lia spoke. Her smile widened as Lia’s doubt leaked into her voice and asked Sabine about business management. “Well, I’ve certainly had my share of small business management…” Sabine had to think carefully before saying very much. She didn’t want Lia to know about the illegal runs Sabine always made, but she wanted Lia to know that she was capable of running a business. “I’m rather good with finances, you know? I think part of that is just because I enjoy money and what money can bring me. I’m guessing you are better with horses than money, right?” Sabine smiled and let out a little laugh. “If you are looking for some kind of financial manager or partner you can always hit me up once you have your stable,” she straight up offered herself to Lia. She wasn’t sure if Lia was that great at picking up hints. It was probably the best approach to put herself out there and see what Lia said, instead of waiting forever for her to realize what was on the table. Sabine waited patiently and smiled encouragingly.
