because I don't have enough ways to complicate your life- - - - pets;;suggested these buggers earlier. here were my thoughts on NPC pets ( or possibly even IC pets after Alcryst gets active and develops? )
WORKING CLASS:: these are pets that have 'jobs' or were 'bred' for jobs. They benefit all classes provided the character is employed in the same career choice as the pet.
Sight Hounds :: medium sized dogs that are nimble, narrow/slight of build and long limbed. Their faces are long and narrow and they are commonly known as 'pointers' though some can resemble greyhounds. Long furred or sleek bodied any and all colors. These hounds are good for 'spotting' and 'flushing' birds. Work well for hunters. They do not retrieve game and unless loyal to their owner will not assist against predators.
Bear Hounds :: large and thick or short and wide, these dogs are heavy with muscles in either size and are used to hunt larger game such as bears, wild bulls, and tracking horses. Good for hunters and horse tamers both they're not afraid of a fight and have a high pain tolerance. They typically 'bate' the large game when they find them to distract them from the hunter.
Retreivers :: a hound or large/medium cat the is bred and trained to retrieve game, generally fowl. They won't join in on fights in defense of their owners but they also won't abandon their owners in a fight.
Hawks/Eagles/Falcons :: small, medium and large breeds of birds used for hunting. They typically assist fishers by swooping in and grabbing up fish in shallow waters or hunters by catching small pray such as rabbits, ground birds ( quail, pheasant, ) water fowl and other creatures smaller than them. They need to be hooded to prevent from attacking small pets and need to be trained to release their catch or they'll just eat the prey.
Guard Hounds :: various sized hounds used to guard things and used by the Guards of a city. These are fighting type hounds and are generally heavily muscled though not as heavy as the Bear Hounds. Square/boxy shaped bodies with matching squared jaws and strong, short legs.
Tracking Hounds :: "scent hounds" droopy eared, lazy eyed, extra-skinned hound dogs of various shapes and sizes that have very strong noses. Good for use by hunters and Guards that are tracking thieves and missing persons. Docile tempers they also make good 'common pets' as a medium sized dog. They won't fight unless trained to do so.COMMON PETS:: these pets don't affect 'specific' classes and can even be owned without affecting stats at all. They are generally medium-small in size and 'normal'.
house cat
song birds
medium dog
small dog
weasles/ferrets/mongoose :: thief type critters. long bodied, nimble fingered and curious about all things puzzles and shiny. Good for thieves and small children.
peafowl :: colorful birds, large in size. they're ill tempered lawn ornaments.MAGICAL CLASS:: affects stats of the owner depending on the type of pet and the owners classification. These pets could possibly level or be exchanged as the owner levels for a higher level pet. Pet level cannot match or excede the owners level so would need to 'stop' around 5 levels below the owner maybe? ( so that owners don't purchase such a high level pet they a: can't control it and b: are boosted too high in their stats )
pheonix/sunbird :: phoenix would be a fire bird we all know and love. they regrow in their ashes and age limits are unknown. Generally gradients of fire colors and often with actual fire in their feathers.
sunbirds are fire-colored birds with white, blue and even violet accents on heads, wings and legs. They don't necessarily carry fire on their wings and don't always rebirth in flames. They do, however reflect sunlight in a 'rainbow' of colors like stained glass windows.
Both are renowned for healing abilities and hawk-like hunting abilities.
Ghost Hound :: body color a shade of black with gray, white or silver symbols on their fur that can shift and change location constantly ( or constantly reflect a moving light instead ). Eyes are white, black or red and they can be anywhere from the size of a grown mans hip to the size of a medium-large horse ( companion type vs. riding type ) fighter type pet.- - - - other ideas;;spontaneous crap that I've thought of and mentioned ( or failed to mention ) today.
JOB//SALE ADDONS:: maybe they don't make it as 'occupations' or something like that but they could affect the way sales work between members and such.
Pawn Brokers :: a good place to buy/sale/trade "stolen" goods or get quick cash for items if you need it in a hurry. Such shops/people generally keep your item for a certain period of time if "pawned" and you can pay to retreive it or lose it ( at which point it's "sold" for at the pawn brokers discretion ) or you can simply "sell" your items to the pawn broker. Be warned you won't get as much as the pawn broker will off reselling the items. You can barter with the Pawn broker to make more money off the item(s) or trade outright for another item(s).
Black Market Positions :: such things as Thieves, Spies, and 'unliscensed' P.I.'s could be found and hired in the black market. Maybe they can be individual characters that set up an "availability" thread with all the things they offer to do and the costs and they can be hired that way?
