Domitan Tryouts

The Domitan Tryouts are directly tied to the Mattrice Tryouts. Neither will be closed until both have an official victor to be declared simultaneously. Furthermore, the chosen Domitan and Mattrice personalities must align, whether they share similarities or are compatible through their differences. Even if their dispositions would clash, the pair must offer promise and wield vision for the future of their herd, split or united. This can be accomplished by mere chance, through roleplayer alliances (planning, cooperation, and ultimately coordination), or by basing your character off of the corresponding Mattrice applicants without their aid or particular knowledge. Herds can be themed, serve a certain goal or purpose, display severe exclusion or warm inclusion, act as a family or a competition--whatever their bonds and mission, your audition's drive is to simply stand out.

Your character must follow all mandatory Domitan requirements. They must be accepted in Equid Inception prior to auditioning.
You may audition more than one character for the Domitan rank but you may not audition for both the Mattrice and Domitan.
You may audition even if you have another ranked character; the only conflict arises from a Mattrice, Domitan, and/or Omniren played by the same member within one herd.
There is no certain profile needed to qualify for Domitan; whether your character is violent or pacifistic, deranged or vain, immature or promiscuous, they can stand as the leader if suited to their herd. The determining factor is mainly in your vision for the herd along with your character's personality and the unity of the two. While the joining of Mattrice and Domitan can warp your original intention, your herd proposal now is critical. How will you gain our attention? The only true stipulation to herds is in their size, which is limited to increase desirability. Beyond that, the clan is yours to design.
To audition, fill out the below form and post it within this thread. The tryouts will only be closed when a sufficient Domitan and Mattrice have both been found and there are enough Rogue horses to warrant a new herd. This means there must be at least 20 Rogue horses.
Another element under heavy scrutiny when considering an applicant is the roleplayer themselves. Their activity, maturity level, writing skill, social participation, and overall Alcrystan standing needs to be reasonable and respectable. As they are in charge of recruiting, maintaining, and regulating their herd numbers, their presence on the site is necessary for the herd to thrive.
You may audition no matter your seniority on the site. Whether or not you have money, experience, other characters, or any other influence on Alcryst is inconsequential. Should you be chosen, however, we will wait until we can verify your stability and dependability.
Thievery or mimicry will not be tolerated. While similar themes are to be expected, such as an overall atmosphere of sexism, a goal of murder, a mission to protect foals, etc., the specifics must be unique. If you suspect thievery, please send a PM to an Administrator.
Feel free to edit your audition at any time before the end date, which will be declared once enough Rogues are created. Upon the end date, the audition will be locked so that all entries can be thoroughly read.
The audition form can be altered however you wish so long as all content is present. You can add fields, you simply cannot detract them.
You may post WIPs but any WIP remaining on the end date will be archived and will not be considered.

an important note ;; If you've read Sankron's biography, you'll know that, although he and Valkire inhabit the same body, they are entirely separate personalities. Only one of the two is dominant at any given time, which means that San's leadership style will differ dramatically from Kir's. Should San become Domitan, his herd would essentially have two distinct leaders. In order to fully explain the schism, this application has been divided into three portions: one for Sankron, one for Valkire, and a more objective overview.

motivation ;; As the son of a Domitan, Sankron has long-aspired towards that rank. Had his former Mattrice's plot not succeeded, San would have become Domitan before too much longer. On some instinctive level, San feels entitled to the rank, but not necessarily in a greedy way. His father was his greatest role model, the ideal representation of what a leader ought to be: not only stern and demanding respect but also compassionate and fatherly. Despite San's deteriorating mental health, he feels as if he has grown and is now capable of making decisions and mastering his crippling anxiety. Becoming a successful Domitan would be the best way of proving to himself that he is capable of overcoming his dark side and following in his father's footsteps.

leadership style ;; Sankron prefers to lead by example, demonstrating honesty, integrity, and tolerance at all possible moments. He is a forgiving individual, always eager to trust others and willing to allow them the chance to redeem themselves. He does tend to be indecisive and relies heavily on the opinions of others. Rational negotiation is San's preferred method for dealing with conflict.

proposal ;; "It is my mission to create a safe and supportive herd in which all members can feel at ease. All will have the right to voice their opinions and be heard. Any horse will be allowed to join, provided they can demonstrate some positive benefit that their presence will have, whether this is a nurturing spirit, battle prowess, creative methods of thinking, or some other productive trait."

motivation ;; Kir's personality was created with an all-consuming need to be in control. Naturally, this has instilled in him a lust for power, and he will stop at nothing to secure it. In part, Kir seeks to become Domitan so that he can undermine Sankron's authority. Valkire is fighting to become the dominant personality, and the stress this rank will place on San could make overcoming him much easier for Kir.

leadership style ;; Valkire is a strong advocate of the "do as I say, not as I do" policy. He both expects and demands absolute obedience and will do whatever is necessary to ensure his subjects' compliance. Although he rarely plummets into a blind rage, he's not above using violence to control the outcome of a situation. Those who cooperate will be treated relatively well, but those who deviate will earn themselves a brutal punishment.

proposal ;; "It is my intention that this herd be the most revered in all of Alcryst. This reputation can only be built if all members are prepared to fight for dominance and pledge their undying allegiance to the Domitan. Only those possessing a strong will and body will be admitted. Any member who disobeys direct orders or is disloyal in any way will be punished harshly and without pity."

O V E R V I E W

logic ;; So far I've detailed how both of San's personalities would approach the rank of Domitan, but now I'd like to take a moment to demonstrate why he's a sound candidate for the job. After all, he's mentally unstable, lacking in confidence, and would lead his followers into a state of disjointed uncertainty. However, this ineptitude is what makes him such an interesting choice. Most likely, San will be the present personality for the majority of the time. With support, he could make a surprisingly capable leader. Kir would interrupt his progress, however, serving as an antagonist to shake his confidence and provide conflict in a hierarchical structure that is meant to be stable. Below, I've also explained a few potential plots for a Herd under his command.

dissociation ;; One symptom of dissociative identity disorder, upon which San's state of mind is based, is experiencing amnesia from the periods of time during which alternate personalities were in control. When Kir takes over, San can never be certain of what's happened since he was last conscious, and the same is true in the opposite scenario. Both personalities will need a confidant to explain what they've missed, which provides many opportunities for deception and manipulation.

civil war ;; It seems likely that, as San's Herd settles in, factions will form that favor one leader over the other. As the schism deepens, disputes might break out, eventually culminating in a civil war. The twist comes in that San and Kir can't be leading their factions simultaneously. Again, we find ourselves with another chance for some ambitious Herd member to snatch power away from the stallion amid the chaos.

kir's dissenters ;; Even if the Herd never reaches the point of civil war, Kir plans to gather his supporters within the Herd and organize them into his own personal army. They could be ordered to do anything from challenging Sankron's authority to raiding an enemy Herd. Although they would be at risk for punishment from San, they would receive Kir's protection, something any horse ought to strive for.

Upon the end date, the audition will be locked so that all entries can be thoroughly read." no end date -- just an open audition that closes when the right characters are found and enough rogues are there

"You may post WIPs but any WIP remaining on the end date will be archived and will not be considered." no WIPs, just use a testing thread somewhere if you need to post a WIP. only finalized forms.

"Any questions can be directed via PM to the Administrators." remove, why is this even in there. stupid 2013 me.

remove the form and simply tell the which fields need to be incorporated. that way, I can see their coding abilities, how visually appealing they can make something, how creative they are, and how much effort they are willing to put in. required fields will be only alliance and proposal--they are free to add extra if they'd like to further state their case, make their character appealing/stand out, etc. give further feeling on what "proposal" might entail.
