I. To register, click on "profile" to the bottom right of the cbox.
II. Match your cbox name with your ooc account's display name.
III. Alcryst is home to any and all, so please refrain from ignoring or excluding guests and members or forming cliques.
IV. No IC soliciation or advertisement.
V. It is impolite to pressure someone into posting if it seems to make them uncomfortable. Err on the side of caution whenever unsure.
VI. To let someone know you posted for them, please tag them in your thread so they receive proper notification, rather than alerting them each time with the cbox.
VII. If you feel ignored, do your best to involve yourself in the conversation. Should you still seem excluded despite your true efforts, message a staff member or use our Grievances board so we can help ensure this doesn't happen again, to you or anyone else. A friendly community is important to us! Don't worry, we will always be discreet and professional.
VIII. We are all friends and certainly want to share with one another, but please keep awkward topics to more appropriate areas, like Palaver, an instant messenger, or private messaging, whenever possible. Though there's no black-and-white description, such conversations may be overly personal, particularly dark or depressive, uncomfortably vulgar, clearly one-sided or unappreciated, highly controversial like religion or politics, combative, exclusive, or otherwise cause a sense of tension.
IX. If a guest or new member has a question, try to cite sources when answering (such as a link to an official thread) or let a staff member handle it. We don't want incorrect information passed along!
X. Should a troll or troublemaker post in the cbox, ignore them and promptly message a staff member so we can ban them. It's key that you don't respond to them! That just feeds the nasty little creatures.
XI. Don't ask a staff member to perform a staff task through the cbox. Task requests should be made through Invocation. Feel free to alert staff when you first post a new Invocation thread, though, as they might've missed it.
The golden rule is simple:
Treat everyone with the respect you desire.
Don't pester, pressure, or push...
And treat everyone with a smile. :)
I. You may post any Alcryst-related promotions in the adbox. This includes but is not limited to: plots, roleplay threads, IC or OOC contests/games, occupational services, wanted ads, shop sales, art/code requests/sales, herds, guilds, and anything else that requires other members to participate or view.
II. The adbox may only be used for advertisement. You may not respond in the adbox nor may you discuss its content in the cbox. Feel free to make use of threads and PMs to converse on the topic.
III. Advertisements must be posted by the account most logically related to them. For example, a stand sale would be posted by the merchant's account.
IV. There is a limit of 1 post per collective advertisement, meaning you have 256 characters to convey your message and may not continue onto a 2nd post. This includes links. Note: you can remove board/thread names from the end of Alcryst URLs and they will still function so long as the ID number is intact. For example, http://alcryst.forums.net/board/1 is a functioning link despite the removal of the board name.
V. The adbox shows up to 20 posts. There may only be 1 visible post advertising the same event at a time. Therefore, you may repost the same promotion once your original post expires. You may also delete and repost your advertisement, effectively bumping it to the top, once a week at most.
VI. To delete a post, click on the X to the far right of your post. To edit one, hover your cursor over your post and select the "edit" option that appears. Deleted posts disappear immediately without confirmation and are not retrievable. Edited posts say [edited] to the left of their timestamp.
VII.Classifieds contains a comprehensive list of what may be advertised as well as additional solicitation options.

Winter until ##/##/##
Winter has frosted Alcryst like the cold blush of a corpse, hardening every surface with frigid ice searing through the depths of its heart. The plants are lethargic and slow, the sky is desaturated and dull, and the wind is a violent gale ripping apart flesh and soil alike.

With gentle hands and warm eyes, the hospital's medical staff attend to every need of their patients. In the face of fragile mortality against the terrors of Alcryst, there is no injury too severe, no illness too deadly, for the blessed pools to heal. As broken bodies knit together in the central chamber, the cries of newborns and delighted laughs of their parents serenade the halls from additional wings.
All ailments can be cured on Alcryst at the roleplayer's discretion, including diseases, disabilities, disfigurements, injuries, and illnesses.
When you are ready to heal your character, post in Invocation with a link to the thread where your ailment was received. If the source is a contribution, such as a creature's venom or contribution disease, include a link to its informative thread. A staff member will then create a thread in the Delphic Provenance using the label "Healing" with your diagnosis, treatment plan, a link to the source of your ailment, and relevant contribution if applicable.
Treatment requirements vary, even across identical ailments. No matter the duration given, it will always entail returning to the Provenance and writing a 200-400 word IC post in the staff-made healing thread describing your character soaking in the water, called a treatment post. There must be 1 completed thread that is both started and finished between every treatment post. If a treatment plan orders 3 treatment posts, then the order in your healing thread would be an initial treatment post, 1st completed thread, 2nd treatment post, 2nd completed thread, and final treatment post. Completed threads may be from any board with any content. All posts within the completed thread must heed your ailment or it will not qualify and may even extend your treatment plan. Provide the link to your completed thread as an OOC post. If you are ordered only 1 treatment post, no completed threads are necessary.
When you have finished your treatment plan, post in Invocation to alert staff so they may review your treatment posts and completed threads.
In your diagnosis, staff will detail all specific symptoms your character will experience until healed and include if there are any additional requirements, such as wearing a magic-crafted cast. Extremely serious ailments, such as a fully severed limb, may slightly lower your stats by 1-3 integers.
The shortest generalized summary of your character's malady will be added to their "ailment" field in their mini-profile, which will be removed after the completion of your treatment plan. If there is any text in your ailment field, it will automatically generate a bloodied clawmark at the top left of your post or overlaying your post header image if you have one, as seen here. Some systems use a specific term in the ailment field, such as "Cathedral Curse Illness."
Your character can have a full recovery from all maladies or they can have a lasting side effect, such as a scar, limp, consistent shortness of breath, or another consequence of your choosing. If you wish to have a specific permanent hindrance after healing, please inform staff in your original Invocation thread. Once your initial infirmity is treated and removed from your ailment field, your ailment field will be updated with the new long-term or permanent effect if it impairs your character, such as a limp. Aesthetic effects, such as scars, are not kept in your ailment field. To have one of these effects later removed, you may visit the Provenance again for a new treatment plan. There will never be a long-term or permanent effect after a treatment plan is finished unless the roleplayer specifically requests it, apart from the potential for lowered stats.
Each ailment requires its own separate Provenance thread and treatment posts. However, completed threads may be shared amongst concurrent ailments if they are created and finished during the span of each ailment's duration and accommodate all ailments.
You do not need to heed your ailment in a thread that was created prior to your malady. However, any created afterward must accommodate your ailment from start to finish, even if they are not intended as part of your treatment plan's required completed threads or if they exceed the length of your treatment plan.
Staff will periodically post random events into IC threads, from a sudden obstacle or weather change to a curse or catching an illness. Homeless humans are more likely to become sick or injured through these events, as they do not have safe shelter.
Roleplayers are allowed to keep their character's physical condition in a damaged state if preferred; therefore, if you want a disability to remain permanent, an illness to kill your character, or have another issue you wish to preserve for plot or personality purposes, simply do not pursue treatment in the Provenance. Post in Invocation so staff can update your account's ailment field but request that no further steps are taken.
Extremely minor injuries such as bruises or scrapes do not need to be healed.
Once you have successfully conceived through Genesis and have met your required 8 completed threads, humans may give birth here. You are allowed to exceed 8 completed threads before giving birth if desired but they will have no effect on this process.
To give birth, create a thread in Delphic Provenance using the label "Birthing" and link to your 8 completed threads. It is optional to write the birth IC. Both roleplayers must post their consent to proceeding with delivery in case one of the parents need the duration lengthened, such as for plot purposes. If either wish to apply the items "Offspring Amount" or "Offspring Condition" from the Underground, it must be included as an OOC note and both parents must consent. Next, post in Invocation to alert staff.
Staff will then post an 8-sided dice roll to determine the outcome of the pregnancy unless it has been predetermined by an item. The dice faces correspond with the following results:
Faces 1-5: Successful birth of 1 child
Face 6: Successful birth of twins
Face 7: Successful birth of triplets
Face 8: Stillborn
If successful, the parents must post their offspring's appearance. There are no requirements regarding genes or similarity to parent designs. The parent roleplayers may only choose the adolescent's appearance; the adult appearance is chosen by the offspring's roleplayer. Descriptions may be written, visual, or both. As per site rules, the appearance may be as high fantasy as desired for free, except for features that require the Underground item "Functional." The minimum appearance details that must be provided are:
Their contribution race if applicable
Any desired disorders, disabilities, illness, or other disadvantages (optional)
Both parents must post their consent for the given appearance. If there are any disagreements, negotiations may occur privately or in the birthing thread as preferred. Once an official appearance has been clearly posted and approved by both roleplayers, alert staff through Invocation. After verifying the offspring's details, staff will archive the birthing thread. If there are any issues, such as missing or unclear information, staff will request clarification before archival.
Offspring may be roleplayed by either parent or a third roleplayer so long as all participants consent. Only the chosen roleplayer has any control over the offspring's personality, actions, and future unless they have publicly agreed to explicit terms prior to accepting ownership of the character. If seeking a roleplayer for your offspring, you may post a wanted ad in Reconnaissance.
If one of the participating roleplayers goes inactive as described in Voids, they forfeit their rights as a parent and are no longer needed to proceed with birth. If the archived or deleted character returns to the site, members may negotiate their adjusted rights and relationships.
Before your offspring can become a character of their own, create an account, or be officially owned by any specific roleplayer, they must first be written as infants in their mother and/or father's posts. The parent roleplayer must include the infant in their normal IC posts, written from the perspective of the parent character and treating the infant like an NPC.
Infants must be present in 10 completed threads before they can age. Both parents may roleplay with the infant to reach the completed thread requirement; for example, the mother could contribute 3 completed threads while the father contributes the other 7 completed threads. Though the infant does not need to be the focus of the thread's content, they must be logically accommodated and mentioned to some degree in a majority of the posts.
If your character is raising multiple infants at the same time, a single completed thread can count toward all of the infants' completed thread requirements so long as they were each present in the thread.
Once all 10 threads are finished, post in Invocation with each link and how many years you want your infant to age with a minimum of 1 year. You must also tag the other parent's IC and OOC accounts for their awareness and consent. If the member who will be roleplaying the offspring is a third party, you must also tag their OOC account. Staff will verify your completed threads are sufficient.
Upon graduating from infancy, characters may age 1 IC year per 1 OOC week as desired. Aging is not otherwise regulated due to liquid time.
If your character belongs to a contribution, there may be specific rules for that race in addition to these standard site rules. Though they are not allowed to alter the dice faces or reduce the required completed thread amount, they may add extra results to the dice roll, increase the completed thread amount required, change the stages of aging, or create other unique stipulations that have been approved by the reviewing staff member.
