Training Procedures

Blunted swords held in shaking, untrained hands face the calloused grip of experienced gladiators. Here, hopeful and determined students with visions of glory in their future are led by weathered veterans who have seen the grim reality of battle.

Though characters are welcome to use Bellicose Discipline for practicing in regular roleplaying, training here only increases your stats if guided by an instructor licensed through the Almanac.
To increase your stats through the Discipline, you must first enroll as a student with a specific instructor. You may only enroll with 1 instructor at any given time. You are permitted to switch instructors, provided it does not break any terms in a lawyer-made contract, should you have signed one.
Students may not be roleplayed by the same member as their instructor. Instructors are welcome to enroll as students with other teachers while maintaining their own occupation.
To hire an instructor, create a thread in Bellicose Discipline with the label "Enrollment" and an OOC post functioning as a wanted ad with any details you desire.
Instructors offer their services as OOC replies in your thread. It is optional to respond if you are interested or have further questions.
You may advertise for further attention in our adbox in the left-hand sidetable under "Chats & Ads," our classifieds, IC interaction with another character in a regular roleplaying thread, the field "promotion" in your account under edit profile > personal, or the IC Newsletter. You may also bump your thread by posting "bump" once every 7 days; this will push your thread to the top of the board, renew its link in the "5 most recently updated threads" section of the left-hand sidetable, and raise your position on our "recent threads" page.
If you wish to interact with a potential instructor IC, you may create a regular thread.
Once you have chosen an instructor and they have accepted your enrollment, post in Invocation for staff to update the Discipline's records.
You can earn 1 stat for every 3 training threads, wherein students must be instructed through methods relevant to the stat you are increasing, such as exercising, memorizing and practicing techniques, and testing. To qualify, training threads must be labeled "Training" and meet the minimum requirements for a completed thread.
Your training threads may only target 1 stat field at a time, even if your instructor specializes in multiple. A set of 3 training threads must be consecutive; new training sessions may not begin until their predecessors are completed.
Instructors may purchase dummies from merchants in the Galleria to increase the number of stat upgrades earned per 3 training threads if you fall within its stat prerequisite, as given in the item descriptions. If utilizing a dummy, inform staff in your Invocation post when turning in your training threads.
Once ready, submit your 3 training threads by posting their links in Invocation and stating which stat was targeted. Once the reviewing staff member verifies your threads qualify, they will upgrade your stat accordingly.
While there is no restriction on the frequency of creating training threads themselves, students may only redeem 3 training threads per 48 hours.
Instructors may teach more than 1 student in a single training thread if they are targeting the same stat.

Instructors

You must meet or exceed the following qualifications to be accepted as an instructor:

At least 3 finalized victories in the Cathartic Arena.
A minimum of 30 stats in your chosen field. New instructors specialize in 1 stat type, such as "strength." You may only train students in this initial stat field. Specializations cannot be changed once selected.
Purchase at least 1 practice guard item from a merchant in the Galleria to ensure the safety of your students.

Post in Almanac to register as an instructor. Next, post in Invocation with your chosen stat specialization and any other training items from Galleria you currently own so they can create a listing in the Discipline's record. It will be your responsibility to update your records by posting in Invocation as you gain/lose students, expand stat specializations, and purchase new training items.
You must own at least 1 practice guard item for every student you enroll. Though not mandatory, owning additional practice guards can be useful for students who wish to wield more than 1 weapon at a time. If you would like to personally spar with your students, you will also need to equip your own practice guard(s).
Each dummy may only be used by 1 student at a time across all ongoing training threads. If a dummy is being used in an existing thread, no additional thread may use the dummy until the original thread is archived.
You are able to increase how many stats you specialize in every time you meet the following requirements, until you have earned all 8 specializations:

At least 30 days have passed since your last specialization increase.
You must have a minimum of 45 stats in your 2nd specialization field. Every field requirement thereafter increases by 15; for example, the 3rd specialization will require 60 stats minimum, whereas the 8th and final specialization will require 135 stats minimum. '
At least 1 current or graduated student has achieved 3 new victories in the Cathartic Arena.

Instructors may decide all details of their service, including but not limited to: forms of payment and frequency, packages offered, frequency of training sessions, discounts, loyalty programs, bundling deals, attendance requirements and consequences for either party, any minimum time commitments or exclusivity, enrollment contracts made by a lawyer, and conduct expectations.
Instructor transaction threads are archived in Freelancer Receipts, such as when a student pays any instruction fees. You must log your records in Scrolls, as described in the Faewin Lawbook, which is mandatory to read. Alcryst's Scrolls site was coded from scratch by Brynora and hosted by her realistic SIM, Elite Equestrian.
